Was playing COD MW2, then all of a sudden the ps3 froze, then shut off blinking red and beeping 3 times. Turned off then restarted, it turned green, then amber and blue, then back to blinking red and beeping. Waited an hour and it did the same thing. What is the issue?

You just got the YLOD (yellow light of death), it`s the PS3s equivalent to a certain "boxs" RROD, sorry bro but your pretty much screwed.

There are some legit fixes for this on Youtube that have actually worked, but I would look into them before trying anything

Ah yes another victim of the YLOD.... Man welcome to the club I'm surprised it didn't go sooner then this.... You have 3 options to choose from.

1.  You can call Sony and tell them what happend to your PS3...  If you use a credit or debit card and pay the $180 service fee....They will send you a box (coffin) for your PS3 there's a form to fill out that comes with the box also if a game is still stuck in your ps3make sure to let them know on the form that you filled out...

2. Do a Google search for PS3 repair shops there's several out there... they cost less... you get back your ps3 and you dont lose all your game saves with Sony you dont even get back your ps3 you end up getting back a refurbished slim ps3 120gb...

3. Try to fix it yourself by using some of the self help videos on youtube..

 Personally I would go with number 2 because you spend between $75 to $100 to get it fixed takes about a week to 10 days... you get 30 to 90 day warrenty depending on who you go with and you get back your ps3 and not a refurbished one...
