i have tried 2 different usb extenders for this. the distance is only like 35ft and has been prewired with cat5e. none of the usb extenders i use work!?!?!?!
i tried a usb 1.1, and a usb 2.0. nothing on either.
im trying to feed my playstaiton eye from my ps3 to the front of my room (components in the back).
when i turn it on the light on the camera comes on but when i go to check audio or video the red light comes on but nothing??
what do you guys use and what should i do????!?! i have spent too much money on this!
i have tried these ones:
its only 30 - 35ft??? its powering up but no picutre or audio, i tried with a hub and without.
nothing, theres no external power hookup. i was using the usb hub for extra power as it had an external hoookup. i noticed the light on the sending unit is not on, but the reciever and eye lights are on.... weird...
my guess is that i need a balun with an external power source....
i hate waiting for this stuff....
any help would be apprecieted much!!
hey solarman were yours like this?
how far did you end up going with them?
any problems with your ps3 eye???
i just want something that will work. the eye is built into the wall so it cannot be moved thanks!
Three setups I went over 45 FT. One setup, I hooked up four and only because I think they said that was the max. Four of those, plus a 6 foot USB cable. That's a good 70FT. And, I've run harddrives, touch screens, web cameras, and powered USB hubs off them without any trouble. One unit died on me early on. Just after installation, I had to go through all of them to find out which one died, after replacing it thoug, the systems have been running pretty much day and night for about 3 years; none of the remaining ones or the replacement has failed on me yet.
Similar to what you linked, same thing, not same brand though.
Shoots, another thing, I'm not sure about drivers. I'll check and get back with you. I have an extra few lying around, I'll take one home and see what happens with PS3.
EDIT: Thinking about it, it shouldn't need extra drivers, if anything, the PS3 will see it as a USB hub or something, and should access it just fine. I'll check anyway.
