That is a good hdd. Your can get any as long as they are 2.5" size and no bigger than 500gb.

the best drive in my opinion is a good amount of gb for your money .

i personally recommend the Western Digital 320 GB Scorpio SATA 2.5-Inch Hard Drive for $70 shipped.

I would go to www.newegg.com. They have very resonably priced HDD's, better deals than you would get at a normal store like Best Buy. Just pick out whatever drive you like as long as it is a 2.5 Sata drive with 5400 RPM. Here is probably the best you can find right now.

so what's the difference between the samsung and the western digital 500 gig.. i mean is it just name brand or does one work better then the other..

Some specs matter though. RPM of the drive, amount of Cache. Generally, faster/more is better.

Theres alot of debate over 5400RPM vs. 7200RPM. Technically, there is no proven reason why a 7200 drive wouldnt work in a PS3. And theres really no reason for it not to, unless the PS3's HDD Controller just couldnt handle it. However, safe bet seems to be... stick with 5400, as that is the speed of a PS3's stock drive.

And the higher the cache, no matter what, you cant go wrong... 8/16/32MB

Personally, I like WD drives, I buy em', they work... nuff' said.
