Hello everyone! Ayla's Hero here to tell you about our next tournament! The rules will be a little different, but we hope it's for the better!
As always, we will be having a 1v1 starting at 6:00 CENTRAL TIME.
Registration begins at 5:30 in this chatroom. You will need to provide us your PSN and the characters to plan on playing that night. This event is NOT character locked: you may switch characters at any time. We only ask as we are documenting where characters place at tournaments.
Without further ado, here is our awesome rules explanation video! If that doesn't somehow manage to answer your questions, we have the rules listed below.
If matches go into overtime by trading your final stocks, you will play in overtime.
All sets will be best two out of three.
Stalling is banned. (Stalling is defined as any action that deliberately avoids all conflict as to make the game unplayable. Running from an opponent to get to a better position is not considered stalling. Decisions on stalling shall be made by referees of the event. All referee decisions are final.)
Any action that prevents the game from continuing ends in a forfeiture of the match for the offender.
(If this happens as a result of a glitch, if possible, take a screenshot or video of said glitch and file a report to a staff member, who will decide the best course of action to take.)
Stages are decided by a Full List Striking System. The list of legal stages is as follows:
Practice Stage Medium 1
Practice Stage Medium 2
How To Play A Set:
1. Players decide who will host. If they cannot mutually agree, it is decided with by a referee.
2. Players select their characters. Either player may elect to Double Blind Pick*.
3. Use the FLSS to decide the three stages to be played on.
4. The player who strikes second picks the first stage.
5. The players play the first match of the set.
6. The winning player of the previous match may pick a stage to ban.
7. The losing player of the previous match picks the stage for the next match
8. The winning player of the previous match may choose to change characters.
9. The losing player of the previous match may choose to change characters.
10. The next match is played.
11. Repeat Steps 6-9 as needed.
NOTE: If a player has previously won on a stage, they cannot choose to play on the same stage again. However, the loser may elect to play on the same stage.**
FLSS (Full List Stage Striking) is the method to determine stages for a set. The players will be striking out all but three of nine legal stages and those three stages will be played on for the duration of the set.
NOTE: When you strike a stage you are choosing a stage you do NOT want to fight on.
Player 1 strikes first, the order is as follows: player 1 strikes one stage, player 2 then strikes two stages, afterwards player 1 strikes two stages and finally player 1 strikes one stage. The 3 remaining stages will each be played once during the set.
Glitches and infinites are strictly prohibited. Violation of this rule will result in a loss of a match, set, or even disqualification depending on a referee’s call. These would include: Rachet’s Infinite Grab, The PaRappa Infinite Tech and The Toro Stall.
(The Toro Stall is using Toro's Neutral Circle to gain AP outside of the screen.) If you have a glitch or exploit occur mid game, please stop playing and contact a referee immediately.
*This allows players to pick characters without the opponent knowing which character you are playing, for the simple reason of avoiding character counterpicking in the first match. This is solved by letting a referee know which character each person is using in private.
**Ex: Player 1 wins the first match on Practice Medium 1. Player 2 wins the second match. Player 1 cannot pick Practice Medium 1 for the match of the set. However, Player 2 CAN pick Practice Medium 1.
