ok so yesterday I played a sly who continously electro-rolled me, literally in the entire match he only did this and maybe clock very rarely to try and KC. Its dawned on me that I cant deal with electro-roll AT ALL, so with that in mind lets talk about how each character can deal with this monstrosity of a move.
Here is the hypothetical situation:
You are playing against a sly who does nothing but electro-roll.
He does it continously with no delay infront of you.
If you move away from him he will find you again and continue to do it.
You can only fight him to gain AP.
You are playing on a small single surface map.
Name a character and explain how he would win this match.
Ratchet - Use as many traps as possible, place down the spikes, use mr zurkon to find him( zurkon will shoot at sly). And remember to use agents of doom.
Thats all I got atm.
Characters with a mine: Use the mine to put in front of you. Make him go to the air more. If he whiffs in the air, he is more punishable than if he whiffs the move on the ground.
Characters with range: Out-zone him. He'll have to use other moves if he can't get to you. If you're a gun character, he will likely use his explosive barrel. When he does this, zone with an attack that breaks the barrel, not with one that will get reflected.
Otherwise: Air dodge and punish.
edit: One thing you should try to avoid is letting him connect on the ground at the very least. Jump a lot. If he connects in the air, it doesn't result in a hard knockdown (which tech-readers love to use as level 1 setups). Use air moves with higher priority than his. Drake's ledge fall comes to mind as does Sackboy's bouncepad.
Sackboy: use his various traps to punish sly.
Any character with a counter: just use the counter, he will be ejected away from you (except maybe Kratos, his might just launch). Eventually they will be forced to either target someone else or to start a new strategy as you are getting AP from the counter and they are getting nothing.
Do a counter into a combo for any countering character
-Jak: Block then use your punch to close the gap
-Sackboy: Use your traps to trap Sly
-Sweet Tooth: Jump and throw down a mine, then shotgun him away
-PaRappa: Block, then mic-grab him back and combo
-Radec: Use your Down+Square to evade Sly. The grenade will open him up for a Side Square or other attack
-Big Daddy: Floor him with aerial Incinerate
