Would you hire SuperBot?

68 replies 764 views Edited Apr 5, 2013

Say you're an executive at Sony Computer Entertainment. PlayStation All-Stars 2 has just been green-lit, and you're in the pre-production phase, deciding who on the Santa Monica workforce to move onto the project. Would you at any point consider calling in some of the SuperBot guys for consulting, or even offer them long-term jobs at Santa Monica? If so, who? The artists, writers, music or cutscene-directors? Maybe some of the programmers, physics-guys, engine-guys, shaders or networkers? (I think I have an idea which of these most of you would never hire).

How about the directors, producers or combat-designers? Would you want their input? Or do you prefer to go with Santa Monica alone?

I'd get the SuperBot team back, give them a longer dev time, larger budget, hire a Community Manager like they have for GoW:A to remain active on the forums and interact with the fans. Have SSM overlook the project and get more involved with it, treat it as a AAA title, give it some real advertising, and then fully assess whether the series has legs.

I think this game was almost to assess whether the series has legs. I think we've been doing a good job proving that it does. Our forum is one of the biggest forums that PlayStation has for a game.

Edit: Given this, I expect a sequel on the PS4 eventually, and I expect it to be good.

It's a shame the game wasn't given a marketing push - there are many gamers out there who still don't know this game exists.

i'd hire most the team. probably change the writers and cut scene director but for the most part they did a pretty god job on this one.

So you'd stick Santa Monica in a supervisor position then? Not a bad idea.

Personally, I'd go with the original plan and hire Naughty Dog.

No I wouldn't hire them. Their choice of DLC characters and the entire roster has been the worst I've ever seen... i'm sure they must have had some say in going after potential IP.

I'd hire them if there was a way to secure a good roster(more than 25 characters and crash and spyro being in that roster), I'd also give them a way bigger budget, and make it a ps4 title, no vita cross-buy gimmick game.
I'd hire them back if they also doubled the ammount of stages currently in the game(or more), and added a stage creator with create tools similar to LBP's create mode, after about a month the stages really started to get dull for me. And there's only like a few I actually like playing on.
