Are you talking about the big blue navigation buttons: FAQ, PlayStation General, Off-Topic, Support & Games?
If so, are you visiting the forums from a laptop/desktop or from tablet/smartphone?
Buttons are jquery, if you don't like them you can block jquery.com. With that said, after the recent update, they are loading much faster. I am on a laptop.

Yes, the blue buttons are what iI' referring to.
I'm on an iPad.
They are loading fast, but still it's a delayed load to everything else.
May I ask why they are being loaded via jQuery? Why are they not just encoded into the template?
I'm not familiar with Lithium as a platform, but I am very familiar with Web Development, since its my profession.
Well, you know, the buttons are aimed at touch/mobile web browsing and jquery is aimed for mobile web development. I would have done them as pure CSS. Oh well.
Anyways, I know what you are talking about, I see the delay on Safari-iPad. I also noticed that the buttons load much faster on Opera-iPad. Perhaps safari is not that good at loading jquery.
I tested this on an first genearion iPad.

Maybe I'm the only one who notices or cares, but the way you have the blue buttons loading shifts the page once the images finally load, which is after the rest of the content. This causes me to accidentally click the wrong things of scroll improperly and, it's not a big deal, but it is pretty annoying as I try to use the forums.
Is there anyway to assign a height to the div the images are in so the buttons just fill in empty space once they finally load? Also, wouldn't it be good to have a fallback (or at least alt attribute) for when the images don't load for whatever reason?
Anyway, I realize in the grand scheme of things, this is a small request, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
I get this all the time too airic82, it's very frustrating, & I'm using a regular PC laptop, but I have now learned to wait those extra 2 seconds or so until if fully loads before clicking anywhere, it's annoying as hell.
