That is just weird... A buddy had a 720p tv and it looked fine just the picture and letters were bigger then usual..

i'm thinking the hdmi cable is either bad or it is one of those rare ones that don't support 720p, yes they are out there....

Or it could be your tv. start with the cable and move on from there...

every hdmi supports any resolution. even stanard. dont know what your smoking.   TURN YOUR SHAPNESS DOWN

Ive turned sharpness down and it just make the jaggies less sharp its a minor fix jaggies still noticebal though its slightly dissapointing.

There is an info button on your Bravia control, if you press that it will show on the screen the resolution

That's also strange you can't choose 1080p settings and it's a Bravia

If you're having that much trouble out of it, just buy a new TV

Agreed.  No new television should be giving you this many display problems out of the box.  Unless you got an insane deal, you should be able to take it back in exchange for something else new.  Stick with LED LSD LCD. Please don't use drugs.

But LSD might make him not see the "jaggies". Seriously, please stop calling it that. Say your TV has bad aliasing issues.

Look.... there are going to be games that have "jaggies"..... this is in no way some development issue or anything..... this is a processing issue.

Anti-Aliasing  takes up processing power. There are several levels of Anti-Aliasing due to a sampling rate.

Some developers use no anti-aliasing, some use a low rate, others use a very high sampling rate of AA.

It just depends on how much processing power is left during a games development.

CRT only looks better to you, because the pixels on the screen are much less defined and are actually stretched and rounded which hides the actual "imperfections" in an image. This is fine for just about everything out there.... but it doesn't make things look better. It just hides things.

HDTV pixels are very defined and sharp. Some HDTV's use a different shape than others. In some situations, older images (like say playing an NES on an HDTV) will look very ugly on an HDTV... sometimes they will look the same or better. At that point it depends on the TV's capabilities.

What you are essentially doing, and why your CRT looks better.... is that you're viewing an image that was meant to be displayed in an HD format, on an SD screen, and as such it is blurring pretty much everything.

Over time, you will get used to it and you will start to notice how you ever went without an HDTV for so long. And once you play a game on an SDTV... you will be disgusted as to how you ever got by with a low resolution image.

In short..... CRT blurs/fills/hides things... HDTV show every little detail, good and bad.

Respond with this info

Make:

Model:

The game you're seeing this issue with:

An actual picture of your display(not an image from the internet) and not a picture from 5 inches away.

thats what im thinking thats its not the tv, I just recently went from standard defintion CRT TV to new HDTV and was expecting this clear smooth picture at least smooth just like the CRT TV and I see jaggies everywhere i would almost rather play in standard definition so its atleast a smooth picture.
