ever notice whenever someone bashes Sony in the post the register date is recent? troll.

No, that is my case too, we people that like to play and not get extremely involved in stuff like forms. We only come here for our problems, whether it is about software, hardware or anything else...

And to the person with the post, try pressing and  holding down the power button while the console if off but the power in on(red light), hold it for 2 or 3 peeps and it should work again, alternatively, if you have the standard red yellow white cable, try using that(just to change the setting to the port you want), also try using the psp or ps vita to connect, you can know where to go exactly if you go see a video about it (even if you can't see)

Yeah if you went from hdmi to analog it will go black. Hold power button down til you hear 2 beeps. And it should reset the video. And go back to default resolution.

Maybe your hard drive is bad. The system powers up but doesn't boot could be a hard drive issue. If you can get into safe mode then your system is working.

1.) Try a different HDMI on the PS3 & TV?

2.) Try a different TV?

3.) Try something else on the TV, instead of the PS3?

4.) Try a different Port on the same TV?

5.) Try a different Cord on your PS3, like Componant Cables?

If your still experiencing issues after all 5 of these, you should know what the Problem is...

Have you ever considered trying out a different Video Port on your PS3? If Componant Cables don't work,

then something is up, somewhere else, not your Video..

But chances are it's your Video... =D

I'd recommend step 5.

If step 5 don't work try a scart connection.

If that don't work. It's not video related.

I've had black screens because i've changed things plenty of times and the first time I did it I was confused.
