Charging issue with NYKO power grip

27 replies 5266 views Edited Jul 10, 2012

I just purchased the NYKO power grip.

The manual states the status lights should display

Solid Red=Charging

Solid Green = Fully charged

Blinking red=battery low.

I charged it for 6 hours and it had a red light which stays solid with a blink off occasionally and a flashing green light.  Makes it look like it's flashing green and red.

I thought perhaps it was close to charging so I left it in overnight.  No change.

So I returned it for a second unit.  This new one has the same problem.

Online reviews seem to state that a solid green light means fully charged so do I have two defective devices or is flashing green correct for a fully charged power grip.

I would like to hear what others are finding with their power grips from nyko.

Im not entirely sure what the device is you are talking about, but just a thought, have you tried plugging it in a different outlet to see if it would have the same results in a different one?

Yea, the PS Vita charges fine in any outlet. The NYKO power grip charges but wonder if its working correctly since the lights don't match the manual. The device can be seen here if anyone is curious.

Well I don't own the PS Vita Nyko Power grip, I own the 3DS one.

But the light indicators in the manual are the same, and when mine is done, it doesn't flash red/green, it just stays green.

I suggest charging the grip disconnected from the Vita. Sounds like the Vita is draining the Power Grip while it's trying to charge and the wall charger cannot charge the stressed Power Grip.

The Duracell myGRIDs that I use also exhibit the same behavior when I try to charge them connected to my Vita.

Interesting I will try that.  I have the ps vita attached but it is powered off so I wouldn't expect it would have this issue.  But worth a shot.  Thanks.
