tactics is very different from VII & VIII.

it's battle system is on a grid, I could never get into it. I enjoy 8 the most out of all final fantasy's

FF tactics is turned base and nothing like the other RPG FF games, its more like the old SFamicom game Bahamut Lagoon.

Tactics takes some getting used to but it's great once you got it figured out.

I love 7 but right now 8 is on top of the list. I just picked up 8 after many years. I'm somewhat lost with the story in 8. I'm really looking forward to 9 after i finish 8. Anyone else thought the system for abilities in 8 was kind of strange when they first picked it up?

I did not like FF8's system. It was easily abused.

Also, the fact that levels of enemies scale with you all the time. So theoretically, if you just have enough magic to raise your abilities up using Junctioning, you could beat the game at the default level (if you could somehow avoid battling for exp).

My favorite has to be VIII. I loved the gameplay and cut-scenes. I do agree that the story was a little confusing, but I got over that easily.

I remember everyone saying Tactics was the best and so I played it and I hated every second of it XD, I can't stand nations at war type stories, and it was a completely unfair SRPG, way too much micro managing, and it make my skin curl just thinking about it. That being said, if you're into that you'll probably love FFT, me on the other hand I loved FF8 it was my favorite of the entire series, I didn't care much for FF9, FF7 was phenominal, and FF6/3 is pretty amazing, and could do w/ a serious face lift. I think if you go w/ FF7/8 you'll probably be fine, other than that I'd go w/ FF4/2 -_-
