I'd wait for the E3. Sony will focus on the PS4, so maybe they'll explain how Gaikai and BC compatibility through that service will work. And if they do, if Gaikai will be something that will allow people to play games from prior generations, then you can make a better call on whether holding out for a PS4 or getting a PS3~.
Simple (No this is NOT an xbox bash )
The best PS3 exclusives are just that REAL exclusives you can NOT get them on PC...or anywher else BUT ps3.
Many of the best 360 exclusives are available on PC either immediately or shortly after.
Any games in between are multiplatform and work on 360 or PS3.
As an added Bonus if you don't have a blu ray player obviously ps3 has one 360 does not. I was an Avid AVID 360 gamer upon 360's launch...once i bought my first PS3 that all changed. Quite honestly the only series i miss is gears of war (2/3 of which are on PC) and iv'e ended up prefering Killzone since then.
PC gaming as a whole is dying sales are Bleak at BEST...mmo's and F2P are the only things keeping PC gaming going. NHL hockey for PS3 or 360 last year likely sold more than most PC hits combined (and thats a low selling sports series). I'd recommend going with a console in general but among the two like i said..
PS3 offers unique exclusives...360 offers PC games and 902903 shooters (Not that those shooters aren't fun....but one can only play so many shooters).
Hope this helped.
If you're interested in a ton of older and cheaper games, then by all means it's a nice idea to get the PlayStation 3 at this point for a heap full of gaming opportunities. Whether you'll actually be smitten by the games in question is not a certainty. If you weren't blown away by the system back in 2008 then you might not be at a later point. However, that also depends on your reaction to different games. Not every video game out there does impress, and it might take time sorting through various combinations before one or more happens to take your breath away.
But then, it can't be all that hard to find persuasion... unless you're a very picky person. If only certain genres or types of video games blow your skirt up then you might not find much of whatever niche you're after on the PlayStation 3. If you are able to keep your mind open to new possibilities however, the software that the PlayStation 3 does hold has been able to keep gamers interested in the platform year after year. Heavenly Sword, Heavy Rain, Portal 2, and Tales of Graces f are a few such examples that have done a really good job, with even more compelling titles on the way this year.
Its worth, getting a ps3 right now, still bringing out some good exclusives games this year.
If I was u, Id rent, every ps3 exclusives, thorugh gamefly, try them out. But if u really dont wont to buy a ps3, at this time u have a family, friend that has a ps3, ask em to swap, or let u use it (weekend ect), to play some of these good games. Good luck with ur choice.
