Sadistic it is surely for BC compatibity you've kept two launch consoles, isn't it? Me it is the reason.

My consoles:
2 CECHA01 60 GB BC launch PS3 (with 500 GB HDD), APS-231 PSU, Arctic Cooling MX-2 TP
CECHE01 80 GB BC PS3 (with 500 GB HDD), APS-231 PSU, Arctic Cooling MX-2 TP

Mine crashed 2 years after I got it when it first came out. Did that yellow light green light crap and it didn't work. I'm actually on my 3rd ps3, the slim. Tends to freeze up on games. Spoke to a couple of friends and theirs always freezes too. It seems that with playstation, there seems to be a stability issue? Don't know why. I love playstation, been a fan since ps1. However, I'm not getting the new ps4 when it comes out because theres no point in getting one when it is the same function as ps3. Only difference is that the ps4 is systematically built for 3-D, unlike the ps3 is a patched 3-D system. I see no point in spending $700 - $800 for the ps4.

I have the launch 60Gb. Repaired by Sony twice and just got the YLOD (Sony repairs last 1 year). Going with the reball repair and hope for the best. Will also, look at improving the thermal paste and fan upgrade.

Loyal or stupid?

My 60gb CECHA01 "fatboy" is still going strong. Never has  been fixed or upgraded. Made due with the 60gb HDD all this time, lol.

I actually bought a replacement two years ago thinking with all the hours I'd logged on the original that I might soon need it. The replacement still sits in it's box.

My 60GB PS3 is still working.  Only repaired once and it now has a 250GB HD.

Amazingly, Yes I still have my (CECHA01)...Actually mine is fitted with all SONY OEM parts from the PHAT PS3's released. What I did was take it upon myself to find and install the best OEM PS3 parts out there. Like 19'blade fan(found in Japanese PS3) instead of the cheap 15'blade(from China). An SSD drive. Changed Thermal paste to AS5 and thermal pads to high quality ones. A better power supply.(model APS-231 part #1-474-073-11) All in all my PS3's life has been prolonged due to these changes.
