After playing it for 3 days now, i can provide more detailed info (as posted on destructoid):
Some textures in almost every room flicker constantly or dissapear completely, letting you see trough walls and floors (which ovbiously kills the athmosphere), and pre-rendered cutscenes play like the disc is scratched, the sound cuts pretty bad.
I've noticed flickering textures in almost every single room. In some rooms and hallways however, the amount of texture glitching is ridiculous, to a point where walls and/or floors are virtually non-existant. The issues are even more noticable when using the camera.
I have to say, the game is perfectly playable and there are no game breaking bugs or anything, The glitches are only present on the scenery; characters and objects look fine, the in-game sounds are mostly fine, still, the glitches are noticable and constant, so its pretty distracting. Honestly, i don't think this went trough testing at all. They just released a plain emulated code and called it a day.
It's a shame, because FF2 is such a great game, and the first one worked perfectly.
It would be nice of Sony to provide a fixed version, or at least refunds.
After all, we payed for it, and deserve nothing less.
I wish i would have read those posts before buying the game... if a PS2 classic can't play on every PS3 it shouldn't be on the store and that's that. I'm Truly disappointed not only this game somehow passed QA but after 3 days is still up without clear indication of it's current state. I'll think twice before buying PS2 classics from now on. that's for sure.
I'm going to wait until I get feedback on every PS2 classic I'm interested in from now on before I buy, my trust has been shattered by this experience.
same here. i can understand a few lil glitches here n there but this is unplayable. i called.tecmo koei usa also and they are gonna contact the japan office since they submitted it. make your voice heard guys. lets hope they fix it. such an incredible game ruined literally the second it starts. broke my heart. inexcusable. call sony and tecmo. i did.
Yep. I am also having audio echo issues esp in the cutscenes. Enough of a distraction to hinder play as this is survival horror and the atmosphere is paramount to gameplay.
Do we need to write to sony? Will they actually care?
** I just tweeted on twitter to @tecmoKoeiUS and @SonyPSN.
Hopefully they will respond...
