Hi,I was wondering if the speed of a ps3 is affected by the free space it has.For example,will a ps3 lag if it has only little free space of GB?Thanks.

I don't think it'll lag, I had my PS3 with only like 2-3GB before and it did just fine.

No, but corrupt files on your Hard Drive will. You have to do maintenance on your console. I recommend once a month at least.

What kind of maintenance?
Like searching and deleting files that are trash?

Rebuild Database and Restore File System. They even help speed up downloads.

Where are these options I cant find them. Also if I do these will they erase any important information?

Nope. Having little space left in your HDD will not cause lag on your PS3. I have a 160gb PS3 and Playstation Plus. Because of the "Free" games I get with Playstation Plus, one time my PS3 had 400mb of space left in the HDD (less than one half of 1gb). My PS3 did not have any lag because of having 400mb left in the HDD. But my PS3 would say on my TV screen, "Warning: You have less than 500mb left in your HDD"

I believe you'll lose your messages, game folders, and music playlists. Nothing major, stuff that should be cleared out every now and then. I guarantee after you do this you're going to find more than one "Corrupt Data" file under your Games section. When you see them just delete them, you don't need them on your system.
