When games are all digital, I will bow out of gaming.
I don't care about losing PS+ titles when I eventually cancel the service, and anything bought from the PSN is only beer money level. But full new games? I'll never touch them, and if they're only available through the digital model, I'm out. Although I'll probably still be fighting my backlog for many years after that.
I like a hardcopy. When I buy a game new I LOVE to open it and smell the stale air new game smell with it. With digital I can't trade it back in if the game is really bad and I can't smell the new game smell. I need to upgrade my memory still on my PS4 but love a new disk game for the smell and the fact that I can sell or snap the disk when I grow old or anger with it.
Ah yes, disk rage. I had an Amiga game that met a brick wall at high velocity and ended up an ex-diskette in many bits. Xenon II would trap my ship in the scenery and drag me to death.
I like Retail to actually put something on my bookshelf. Plus when they release a new version of the console and I sell my old one to get the new one I can give some games with it. I do wish there was a way to make a digital copy of your game collection like you can do with DVD's. I was hoping PS NOW would evolve in that direction somewhat.
you've actually had time to remove a disc to smash it?
i generally start throwing the controler around the room.
- You don't have to switch discs
- You don't have to carry around discs when travelling (huge point for me)
- If your PS4's bluray player fails, you can always play your games
- You can't "lose" or misplace a digital copy of a game
- Discs can get destroyed or it might get scratches which leads to disc damage
Yeah, I prefer digital on PS4.
Hardcopies. Id like the ability to replay my games in the future. And they seem to want an all digital future, but make thes consoles with tiny HD's. Digital is convenient though. Maybe they could do like the movie industry and give a digital code when you buy the physical disc!
