Re: Headsets for PS4

The PLYR1's actually sound better than the A50's. The A50's just have a better build and comfort. Problem with the A50's is they are far too bass emphasized which drowns out the mids.

Also don't forget that you can get the Wireless A30's for $109.99 right now which comes with the Wireless Mixamp 5.8. I would get it quick though because once its gone, its gone.

I do believe you need to buy a Chat cable though if using on the PS4. Either way, this is a steal considering thus mixamp alone costs more by itself if you can even find one.

This A30 system is also great for people wanting to get into real headphones like the ones I usually recommend. You would only need to buy a Y Adapter from Astros website.

It's slim pickings right now, as the system is still pretty new. I'd look into the Pulse Elite, after the compatibility update.

The pulse elites are nice but the cracking issue they have would scare me away.

The Skullcandy plyr 1 is probably one of the top gaming headsets, and if I were going wireless that's the way I'd go. Currently $129 on amazon and worth it.

I prefer real headphones though.
My current setup is the v moda crossfade lp2 headphones and the boompro mic through the astro mixamp pro. I'm be getting the crossfade m100 headphones very soon. Expensive setup, but as much as I game, I want sound quality as good as I can afford.

@Axman77

The main thing to consider if you ever upgrade is the last part of his post where he talks about buying the Mixamp and using your own headphones. This is the absolute best thing you can do and opens your options up to things far better than console gaming headsets whether its with a budget pair of Superlux HD668b's or Samson SR850's, a higher end pair of headphones like the AKG Q701's and a FiiO E9 desktop amp or the Sony MDR MA900's. Any of these headphone options paired with a Zalman clip on mic and Astro Mixamp will sound better than any console gaming headset on the market.

Another option with the mixamp could be the Sennheiser PC360 or Sennheiser G4ME One gaming headsets.

Another option with the mixamp pro is any decent headphone that uses a detachable cord and the vmoda boompro mic. I use that with my LP2's and love the setup. M100's inbound.

Expensive setup, but versatile as the headphones and mic can be used on your phone, pc too.

Now if I can figure out how to connect the mixamp pro tp the ps3 and ps4 at the same time...
