The original Resident Evil was released in 1996, and the remake arrived in 2002. The remake was built from scratch by the same creators and was considered a masterpiece.
Now, over a decade later,, and with modern technology we can make the scares even more real in terms of both graphics and sound. The interface has also been updated to meet today's standards.
But don't worry, we made sure not to change anything that made the original the classic that it is.
You don't mess with a masterpiece, after all.
It's 1998. The special forces division S.T.A.R.S. sends out Bravo team to investigate bizarre murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. They soon lose contact with the team.
Soon after, Alpha team is sent to search for Bravo team. They soon find themselves in the middle of an eerily quiet wood. There they discover the wreck of Bravo team's helicopter. The pilot is already dead.
While Alpha team search for the other members, the silence of the wood is broken by a pack of strange, disfigured dogs, which attack in a bloodthirsty rage. The dogs kill one comrade and the surviving team members run for their lives with the pack of hungry hounds chasing at their heels.
Struggling to catch their breath, the team notices a mansion close by and quickly make their way inside. The mansion saved them from the dogs, but who's going to save them from the mansion?
Supplies are limited. Danger lurks around every corner. You're trapped in an enclosed environment with nowhere to run.
This is a recipe for fear, anxiety, and exhilaration.
You find yourself trapped in a mansion, and you're going to have to investigate every corner to find a way out. While securing your escape, you'll find yourself fighting off enemies, scavenging for supplies, and discovering hidden items. Do whatever you can to survive the nightmare.
Exploring the mansion won't be easy—the place is crawling with enemies.Use your limited ammo and items wisely, and you might just be able to overcome them.
A grenade launcher dropped by a fallen comrade is just one of the weapons you can discover.Keep searching the mansion and find all the weapons you can—you're going to need them.
Traps and puzzles litter the mansion, and the items you pick up carry hidden clues. If you want to escape the mansion, you'll have to search every nook and cranny to help you solve the mysteries within.
Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine are members of S.T.A.R.S., the Special Tactics and Rescue Service. They're the best of the best. Chris is ex-Air Force and a highly skilled marksman. Jill is ex-Army and spent time in the Army's Delta Force training program. Now they are a part of Alpha team, the team tasked with finding Bravo team.
The environments come alive with detail thanks to resolution upgrades and non-static 3D models.
Post-processing effects like Bloom filters, which were not easy to do at the time of the original release, have been added to make the HD graphics even more realistic.
★The original game called this technique "video backgrounds."We recorded the backgrounds themselves as videos to create realism that couldn't be rendered in real time with the technology of the time. Left is Remaster, Right is Original!
You can play in the original 4:3 screen ratio as well as 16:9 widescreen. CG cutscene movies also support the new widescreen ratio.
In widescreen mode, the screen will scroll. The parts of the screen that get cut off on the top and bottom will scroll into view automatically depending on the character's position.
★You can switch the display mode during gameplay in real time.
- High-Quality Sound
The audio has been remastered to increase the sampling rate, and of course 5.1ch output is also now supported.
- New Controls
You can play using the original control scheme or an alternate control scheme that lets you just push the analog stick to move in the direction you want to go.
★You can switch the control scheme during gameplay in real time.
i personally never played RE1, its the only one i haven't, so i'm glad its coming to PS3 also. lately it seems the PS3 will never go down which is great news for me!
i have a ps3 as well. though don't worry. it will eventually go down. new games will slow down in 2015. we might get the typical sport stuff in the later years and few games.

i'm more worried it WILL end, PS3 is the last free online gaming system and when matched up to the PS4 currently its a bit better. sure things look prettier on PS4 (big whoop) but PS3 continues to live to his claim "it only does everything"
plus i bet there will be people continuing to buy it for the free multiplayer for years to come until they tae down the servers. after all parents of young kids will want somethere they're kid can just grab and pay, not have to pay month by moth or by year.
anyway back on topic, as long as they leave it the classic style this should be great, although i will miss the over the shoulder aiming option. less chance of the clasic RE crapy camra troubles.
Glad to have helped with this, didn't know how this was going to result as I was doing this while juggling my kids at the same time, glad it turned out well! Hope others are looking forward to this, it's been a long time since the REmake has been seen and in HD, it looks fantastic!
