If Sony was to add backwards compatibility to discs, how would you want them to do it?

Sony is a great company, and they listen to their customers alot more than most companies.

This whole backwards compatibility has 2 sides that have good points for their argument.

So I ask this, if Sony added backwards compatibility to discs, how would us, the customers, want it?

Sony could develop a PS3 and older emulator that could be downloaded and would enable these games to be played on the PS4

They could make 2 variations of the console, a standard console without backwards compatibility on disc, and a console made to order that could play PS3 and older without any additional download

They could also make backwards compatibility with PS3 discs through network, you boot up your PS3, start the game on it, then boot up the PS4 and connect to the PS3 and play the game the PS3 loaded

They would have to completely redesign the PS4 to add the PS3 hardware. Not cost efficient.

Stop dreaming of something that will not happen. Gaikai is how BC will happen and no way else.

Backwards compatiblility is software based, not hardware based like M$ would want you to believe

That's incorrect. You can have all the software you want, if you don't have the proper HARDWARE to run it, you're SOL.

this is about backwards compatibility with DISCS, not downloads, it's easier to borrow a game on a disc than borrowing a download, especially considering that the only ways to borrow downloaded games are borrow the entier console, or put it on a USB stick and download the profile that bought the game

PS4 has the hardware it needs, the reason you can play PC games made for XP on windows 8 is because windows 8 has the software to make it backwards compatible

Not gonna happen, and creating the ten millionth topic about this subject isn't getting you any closer. Get over it.

Don't be so quick to judge, if enough of Sony customers want something, Sony usually does it. I'm just asking those customers how they would want backwards compatibility to disc to work IF Sony decided to do it

Really? Because I'd say that in recent history, the opposite is true.

If enough Sony customers want something, Sony does absolutely nothing.

Especially for something like this. Because to make the PS4 backwards compatible with DISCS, would require a HARDWARE change, you can't just do some update or patch for that.
