It's more than enough for PS3, I know someone using a 768k connection and playing in 40 player Resistance games.

yes it's fast enough....you can play online, download and do much more...alot of people are stupid and know little to nothing about networking (although i know alot) therefor say crazy things like "you need 3 megs to play online" when in relaity that's not remotley true...you should be fine with your connection

Shun Goku Satsu told me that download is what matters when playing online.

if you're doenloading a file then yes..speed does play a factor on how long it will take you to recieve a file....now if you're playing a game it's your "PING" which causes lag...and has very little to do with your internet speed (alot people don't know that)

Is an 83 PING for 50 miles bad?

My connection is 5MB down and 512kb up, If I could always get 1.5MB download speed I would be happy, 1.5MB is good enouph for the PS Network.

MOST if not all of you guys on this board know nothing about internet. Your download speed has little to no effect on what causes lag it's all about your latency or "ping". go to speedtest.net and run a test on the farthest server away from you in the US. If you get under 150. then you should be fine.

You might be reading it wrong.  512kb upload is crazy high.  It might be in kbps, which would be more like 60 kb upload speed.

Even a T1 connection will only have like 185 kb upload speed.  For gaming, anything over 45 is good, and the better the upload the better the latency.  Download speed is not as important in gaming.

I average around 145 Kbps. I have a 1.5 Mbps download and 256 Kbps Upload. My ISP is AT&T and I have DSL. Is that good?
