Re: Is there a max net speed for the ps3?

Dec 13, 2012

@ gR3yGh051,

My unsequentialled line was beyond anything offered permanently in Canada but I did however luck out. The org. download speed crashed a major speed test site for approx. 2 days (I did appologize for that as I was told that 'that site handles all speeds').

I then used an 'inhouse' live tester and average speeds of 937GB (yes GB)! This private ISP is ranked second in the world for 'beyond belief' speeds. Those indicators made a quick decision out of myself to downgrade quickly. However, my PCs fulfill those speeds quite generously to be frank.

So to answer your question, my speeds fluctuated beyond the 1700+MB, resulting in some of the issues stated previously.

The PS3 only has wireless-b,- g receivers so you can only download at about 16mbps also your download speed depends on the router wether its wireless-n (the fastest) or wireless-g (the slowest) wireless-n can give you speeds up to 300mbps while wireless-g can only give about 5mpbs and wireless-b which is the fastest your going to get on a PS3 is about 16mbps

No.

the fastest Wireless G can do IS NOT 16Mbps.... it is 54Mbps. Faster than most ISPs offer

the PS3 has a Gigabit ethernet port....thats 1000Mbps using a wired connection to the router (if the router is also gigabit)

Furiously Chaosing

I get you so horked up

I have 30/5 and I get very stable and fast connections on everything I play. I see absolutely no reason to get anything higher. It would just be a big waste of money.

It is Capped to a certain Limit
No matter how fast your Internet Speed is, the PS3 only let's you download up to a certain speed. Pretty lame if you ask me

Re: o I proper: Is there a Max net speed for the ps3?

May 19, 2013

Hi I just had the thought to check if ps3 was capped on a Max bandwidth in/output then I stumbled across this post I found it interesting enough to sign in so,

my router can support Upton 100mbs my PC wired gets roughly 89mbs and a steady 1.0-1.4mbs upload plugged in, unplugged gets 39-42mbs and 0.7-1.2 uploads my ps3 wired thru network test gets 10mbs and 0.7 but in an online game say like bops2 IM getting 1000-1400 bandwidth so is this uploads or downloads speeds I would have thought it was a combination of the both as it needs to send and receive thru speed test .NET well I can't see it apparently it needs java script and flash 10 so yeah maybe the system is capped maybe by region who knows, the people the you ring at playstation are pretty much just tele marketers I mean u'de need to speak to an engineer of the machine but then they would have sign a non disclosure agreement (maybe) letting them say nothing (secrets)

thanks for reading my rambles : snotspit666 psn
