Largest HDD capacity for both PS3 types

7 replies 214 views Edited Mar 4, 2013

It's been 6 months since I've been here so I'm sort of outdated. WHat is the largest GB HDD's that anyone has installed in their PS3's?

Both, the fatty & the slim. I'm looking to upgrade both of mine.

TIA.

physcial size of the HDD does matter. It must be a 2.5" HDD to fit into the ps3. Do not try to put of 3.5" HDD in, wont fit. Largest gig size that would work for the ps3 is 1TB. You shouldnt run out of room with a 1000GB HDD.

1TB is currently the largest drive you can buy that is still 9mm thick. Which the drive has to be to fit inside the dock.

But there's.. probably no real limit on the addressing space, technically. Even if you start to get some amazing redundancy after a while, I think..

You can use a 3.5 drive, if you don't mind the drive being outside of the PS3.  You can connect the drive to the internal connections fairly easily.  There's little point to it, unless you happen to have an extra 3.5 drive and don't want to buy a 2.5, but hey... :smileytongue:

A relatively clean solution can be purchased here:

EDIT: With the attachedment shown on the linked page the 3.5 external drive HD should work.
