Rebuild the database using safe mode. While the system is on stand by ( solid red light ) press and HOLD your finger on the power button. The system will turn on and you will hear one beep noise. Keep your finger on the power button and after 10-20 secs it will beep one more time then the system will shut down. Do the same thing with the finger on power button but instead of a 2nd beep it will have 2 fast beeps then it will restart into safe mode. Go to the option that says rebuild database . After it finish see if your system is working.

Rebuilding the database will delete all your messages and music playlists. Everything else should stay intact.

Rebuilding the database will detect and deletes corrupt files that cause some system issues. My brothers slim did the same thing, once I did the rebuilding database option his system has been running great since. It doesn't always fix the issue if its hardware related but software wise its worth a shot.

You'll find it in the safe mode with data.
