PS Plus Jet Set Radio charged to my credit card

11 replies 168 views Edited Jul 16, 2013

Just a warning to anybody getting Jet Set Radio from the instant queue. I just got the game from the Sony Entertainment Network store online. After that I went to my bank's site and I noticed that Sony had charged money from my credit card for this game (which should have been free). After I saw this, I contacted Sony through the live chat support. The agent checked my account and agreed that I was charged incorrectly, but he indicated that instead of voiding the charge, the procedure requires a 'request for a refund'. It would take 5-7 business days to process the request and get the money back to my PSN Wallet, or a full billing cycle to get it back to my card. When I said I may dispute the charge with my bank if it takes that long, he said:

I would encourage you to not dispute that charge unless the refund is not granted. This will usually result in the account be banned. I have noted the account and I agree with you, you were charged incorrectly.

So, check your credit card after you get Jet Set Radio and make sure you aren't charged. I will see if this gets resolved anytime soon, but from a customer service perspective this wait is crap, especially since I noticed it pretty much right away (and yes, it's just 10 bucks but I guess this could also happen with a full $60 game).

Welcome to the PlayStation Community.

Are you sure you didn't purchase this BEFORE the store updated, if you did that's why you were charged, there was likely no error?

In any event before you pressed the 'X' button to confirm the checkout it would have shown the price, didn't you see this?

Isn't this a reheated game though? I got this free for my Vita due to PS+, I'm guessing PS3 owners didn't get it. I'll be sure to grab it once I see it's really free on my PS3.

Re: PS Plus Jet Set Radio charged to my credit card

Thanks for the welcome! No, I didn't get it before it was active (accessed it from instant game collection, price said 'Free' and I didn't get any notification about updating my wallet), and the support agent immediately agreed that I shouldn't have been charged.

Hopefully it's just me, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to let others know so they can  check their credit card too. Luckily I did that today, normally I don't look if there are charges when I get something off Plus.

Glad you got it sorted out.

you have to understand until the store updates...  which usually does not occur until 6:00pm EST you will still be charged as if you were buying it..  with money.

any changes being done with the offerings that psn+ has, only takes affect after the store  update

So even when it's already listed under the free games the store may not have updated yet? How can I tell if it has been updated then? Or should I just wait until Wednesday to be safe?

its possible that there may be issues, there were times where i can manually search and download a new release when it wasnt available in the store as a selectable item yet

So... I'm right?

The PlayStation Blog shows Jet Set Radio PSN on the 1 year IGC PlayStation Plus post.

IGN even confirms my findings

Not a bad thing mind you, I hope Sony reheats some of their past titles out again that was once on IGC, I jumped on PlayStation Plus too late (December last year). I kick myself every time I see the IGC one year list. **bleep** you Xbox!
