Update: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/02/10/new-ps-vita-model-confirmed-for-us-included-in-borderlands...

Update: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/01/24/ps-vita-slim-set-for-release-in-europe-and-north-america

Hmmm.  Hopefully we get a few of the colors available in japan and not just black....might have to import if not.

Do you think it'll becoming to the west soon?

From the looks of it places are emptying their stock- backroom-etc.

Amazon no longer carries any models- and is only selling offering them through the marketplace. They were also selling the white PS Vita that came in the assassin's creed bundle as was Best Buy a few weeks ago; and serveral BB stores in my area no longer have the standard version- or any- available anymore.....

Mid Feb for the announcement?

Sony hasn't announced or even hinted at anything so your guess is as good as anyone else's. It's really only a matter of time before it's released in North America, the only question is when it will be released. It could be tomorrow, a month from now, or even 6 months from now. Throw a dart at a series of calendars, that will give you a better estimate than anyone.

just get the 1000. OLED is better than the poor screen the 2000 has.

Sticking with the older model. Not too thrilled with the buttons on the newer one. They look rather cheap. I like a system that can withstand game play.

How long did you have it, system wise?

If my current Vita croaks, I probably will not buy another...  Not until they fix the WIFI.  I bought mine to play while at work and when I travel, and I can never get it to connect to a hotel's wifi, every thing else connected fine, the Vita, just sat there, wouldn't do a thing, at home it works fine.

Ah.

Maybe they had a wep password or wpa password set up on it. My old DS couldn't connect on that kind of wifi (the wep one, that is). If it had a password or a login screen, I was out of luck. Even if it was the right kind of wifi.
