Went to Amazon.com yesterday to take a look at some PS4 titles and am shocked that some of these games, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed IV and Thief 4 are all $100 a piece. Is this a temporary price tag or is it going to be the new standard?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I remember back in the day I bought a N64 title for 120 Gulden, which is €60,- and that's exactly what games cost these days. Of course we're talking $ here, but just saying, prices will stay relatively the same. You can count on that.
I hope the prices wont go up again..
During the ps2 days games used to be 49.99
then when the ps3 came out they went to 59.99
hopefully this wont happen again that would be crazy
It's called inflation. $49.99 for PS2 games in 2001/2002 would cost about $63 now.
Which is the price we are paying for PS3 games.
And as promised from Sony, the same top-dollar we will be paying for PS4 games.
If anything prices will drop. Games on Tablets and smart phones are just to cheap and the only way to compete is to lower AAA games prices this gen or at the very lest keep them at 60.
I feel like many of the ps4 games will be cross buys with the vita, to get people like me to buy the games, and we will be seeing more 40$ games like sly 4 along with more deals.
The prices won't drop for top titles.
$60 dollars will be the price for a top-tier premier title. (i.e. The Last of Us, Grand Theft Auto V, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, etc.)
$40-50 for lower-tier titles / Touched up re-releases / lesser known titles (i.e. Sly 4, Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut, Resident Evil: Revelations, etc.)
It's always worked that way, as far as I can remember. Atari, NES, Genesis, etc.
Even PS1 had games that ranged from 29.99 to 49.99. It just depends on the game.
