PSN apology?

9 replies 501 views Edited Apr 24, 2013

Today my friend sent me a message and I need to know if I will get hacked or something. it said...

Dear PSN users,

We are still feeling very sorry about psn being shutdown, because of this we're not only giving 2 free games, but we are giving $50 funds to your user if you send this to all your friends.

From Playstation it works! Send this message to all of your friends.

Once you have sent this message to all of your friends - you will get $50 on your PSN.

Enter this code: I8PH-CIBD-RK2H

(After you send this message to all)

I really want to know if this is real.

Welcome to the forums. Smiley Happy

The message you received is chain mail and is not real. You will not receive any money by resending that message to your friends.

If you want, you can file a report against the sender by hovering over the message and selecting "Grief Report." You can then choose a fitting reason for reporting the sender, the most fitting probably being "Spam" or "Impersonating SEN Staff" or something similar.

Welcome to the PlayStation Communtiy Evil- Pandabears!

This message is spam, pure & simple, it is 100% FAKE.

Just so you know it's possible that your 'friend's' account is suspended or banned in the near future for forwarding this message, my advice to you is to report then delete the message & if this 'friend' is a good 'friend' kindly inform them of the information I have posted here.

Dunno if you've caught on yet, but the message is spam. You can report it by pressing Triangleon it in the XMB.

Wow. That spam/Chain Message is still going around PSN. That code is from an unregistered $50 PSN card. If you enter the code, it will say it is worth $50, but you "Cannot Add Funds to Wallet" because that card was never registered. Just to show you how long that spam has been going around PSN, here is a link to a thread from 2010 (3 years ago) asking about that same spam message.

It is fake. Did you get the memo? Smiley Wink
