PSP Fixes

38 replies 686 views Edited Feb 28, 2010
If you own a PSP that has suffered a failure but were able to correct it without sending it in, then this spot is for you.  Simply list the PSP type, the problem, and how you fixed it. This way, others will have a place to check for information. Please don't leave any comments as it clutters up the pages. If you like an article, give it a KUDOS instead of a comment.  Thanks

PSP turns off when doing downloads causing lost data.

FIX:  Turn off auto sleep mode under Power Save Settings.  You can also keep the backlight from turning off by setting to OFF.

PSP shows data corrupted on Memory stick after download.

FIX:  Check to see if Memory Stick is Magic Gate supported.  Click on Memory Stick, Press the Triangle, Click on information.  If stick shows anything other than "Supported", stick is not authentic.  You probably should find a new stick as downloads will pretty much all be the same.  These sticks are known to come from abroad at a lesser price. Buy from a reputable dealer or store and leave the Ebay sticks alone.

Psp shows "Not enough memory" on a webpage... Try closing tabs. Under "view settings" disable flash (too outdated to be useful), animations, and javascript (unless necessary).

PSP will not charge in USB mode

FIX:  Make sure you leave the PSP "ON" when using USB charge. Turning the unit off removes it from the USB charge. Keep the unit on and turn on the power save function that turns the screen off.

PSP shows data corrupted and code of 80000004 after download of FF or other game from the PSN to memory stick.

FIX:  Ensure memory stick is formatted. Go to system settings and format memory stick.  Download the game again.  Memory stick should now contain the game and function properly.

Faint line around edge of screen on PSP 3000

FIX:  None.  In most cases this is normal and is caused by a gap between the LCD screen and the backlight.  Unless it is severe, you can return it for warranty repair, otherwise, there is no fix.

I've had to replace multiple LCDs. And I modded the dpad in my 1x series PSP using a piece of hard paper. It's even better than the 2x series dpad.

What kind of paper did you use, i'm mean where did you find it?I recently sent of my Phat for a case mod and although the new case looks awesome I have to press the circle button a little hard for it to work. The PSP repair shop said that's because of the 4 button pad the case came with. There's nothing they can do about it.
