Yeah. That tv is cool. I would definitely buy one if it came in a 40"+ size.

I've had my PlayStation 3d display for 2 years, running great but dropped my backlight to 5 as it's been know to be the reason that kills these tv's (it's defaulted at 10). Got mine during Black Friday for $99 @ Best Buy.

I think I'll try to get a 3d tv this year, do plasmas still have the problem w/ screen burning? Also is there anything special from the system needed for 3d or is just related to the game and television?

Don't knock it but your best value for your money is a Vizio LED 3d tv. You can find them for cheap and Amazon can give you one for less than $150.

The PS3 3D display has been discontinued, due to the fact that larger 3D TV's are more appealing and for not much more money, as well as the display itself having A LOT of issues.

Sony didn't actually make the display, they just put their name on it.

Sony will likely not come out with a Playstation branded display again. As there is not point.... just get yourself whatever 3D tv you can afford.

I have to second the Vizio 3D LED idea.  I picked up a 42" Vizio 3D Smart TV a few weeks ago for less than $500.  It is a Passive 3D set (uses the same glasses as most 3D movies at the theater use), but I have really noticed no difference in picture quality between that and an Active set that generally costs about $200 more.

One major advantage to Passive 3DTVs is that if you find yourself needing extra glasses, you can just take the family to a 3D movie, and keep the glasses.  They will work with your Vizio or LG 3DTV.  In a jam, the glasses generally cost about $20 or less for 6 pairs or more.

By comparison, Active shutter 3D glasses cost about $30-40 per pair and generally only work with one or two different manufacturers' TVs.

I love my LG 3d TV! It's passive and also supports dual play (the feature that made the Playstation display so appealing) if you can still find the glasses (or modify a pair of passive glasses).
