Having 1 PS3 in the living room and one in my son's room, I have usually purchased two game disc's so the two of us could play simultaneously online on different tv's and profiles. Now that most games are being released on the psstore could I purchase a digital copy of these games once and download them to both ps3's, and play them simultaneously as stated above? More specifically on Far Cry 3. I see there is a online pass you can purchase in the store also, would I have to purchase additional online passes for each profile  or for each ps3?

In short, purchase game once, download to 2 ps3's, play online simultaneously on different profiles and consoles.

Yes, you can. You would need to add you account to your son's PS3, and activate the console on your account, then download the desired items. As long as the PS3 is activated, and your account stays on the console, your son will be able to use anything downloaded from you account, on his.

Good deal, do you know about online play on Far Cry3? Would I need to purchase a seperate online pass for him? This is a great feature for families as it gets quite expensive buying two disc's for games we want to play together.

No. Everything you download from the Store will work. Anything. Online passes, games, themes, the whole gamut.

The only things that won't work are pieces of DLC that are unlocked from within the game itself. There are very few though. Assassin's Creed 2 comes to mind, in that there were some preorder dungeons that were unlocked by inputting the code, not downloaded.

Beyond that, you should be fine.
