Should rockstar charge Xbox players extra?

14 replies 222 views Edited Sep 16, 2013
The Xbox version of gta v comes in two disks. While the ps3's comes in 1.
It comes in one because sony's blu ray can hold 50+gb on data.

It isn't rockstars fault Microsoft has such poor engineering aka choosing hd DVD that holds nothing close to do or does not compare with the quality; making gta v on two disks.

The ink used to print the content onto that extra cd, and the extra cd itself would be around $2+ loss per sale.

If they sold 7 million CDs that's a loss of 14 million $

So what are your views on this?

Well, under these terms how would you explain $59.99 digital sales. R* isn't losing any money on the dual disc thing.

If I was rockstar, I too, would not affect the digital price.
If I drop 10 bucks off every digital gtav, then everyone will buy that instead of the physical disk,
loosing even more on every physical produced that will just gather dust at the store.

The simple fact is that $59.99 is the msrp across all mediums.
Charging one console more money isn't right. Rockstar has been projected (though it sounds crazy) to do 1 billion in sales of gta5. To alienate a consumer based on the choices in platform isn't a very good business model if you expect repeat customers.
The same price across the board simply makes sense.
Your logic is flawed if you say, they should be charged more for using two discs but digital sales should still be normal price.

Um the cost to actually create discs is relatively insignificant to justify a price difference... Remember when games came on CDs, some games even came on more than 5 cds

If you alienate a consumer, chances are that consumer won't buy your product. This is simply fan boy talk to put down the other console's player base.
The OP makes a point to say that isn't Rockstar's fault that "Microsoft has poor engineers." And it isn't the consumers fault either, so why should they pay more. Its just a baseless argument.
I understand the idea behind your thought but it simply isn't a correct way to do business and is would be incredibly hypocritical on Rockstar's part.

That would make no sense. They already charge $60 dollars. Having 2 discs shouldn't require charging extra.

People still obsessed about Microsoft? If I wouldn't know better, I'd think you guys are closet XBOX users that still haven't come to terms with the platfom you want to play on~.
