When I first bought Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, I didn't expect much; I even bought the game months after it was released on the ps3. I really didn't know what to expect when I put it in but when I did, it didn't disappoint. The first thing that struck me were the landscapes and the textures of the jungle foliage. The game looked stunning-even on an old fat TV- and I was hooked. The game got better and better as I went through it and I even got attached to some of the characters. The game always seemed to throw something new at you, like the cursed nazis (I almost wet myself when I first saw them in that old, dank metal tomb of an environment). Drake's conscience was the thing that really stuck out to me... how could you let go of something like El Dorado, even if it was cursed with a terrible zombification gas. I finished the game and couldn't wait for Uncharted 2 to be released.
Among Thieves was a first-day buy for me. I bought it at a midnight release and I stayed up for the next day completely committed to finishing Drake's second adventure. I loved the villains in this game; they seemed to progress and get more and more on my nerves... I couldn't believe Naughty Dog could get me to hate a video game character. I kept on my journey to shangri la and again, those monsters got to me! Yetis were enough, but figuring out they were really blue monsters from Shangri La hit the nail on the head. At the end of it all, Drake evolved as a character and again left me impatiently waiting for the next chapter for Drake.
Drake's deception was a bit different for me. Being placed in the middle of the Sahara instead of a jungle was a nice change for me. Mirages, flaming heads, and an underground city of riches hit the spot. I lived the parts where Drake was stumbling around only to realize he never left the beginning if the checkpoint. I didn't know If I could trust the game with all of the mind f**kery going on. I was sad when the desert collapsed on top of this city and I thought Drake's story was over. I didn't know what to look forward to...
Like most guys my age, when Sony was about to release a new handheld system, I started saving my nickles and dimes so I could buy one as quickly as I could. I was looking forward to the Vita, but if it wasn't for Golden Abyss, I might not have had the drive to buy the system on day 1. The time came and I picked up a Vita with my copy if Golden Abyss and I was set. I was able to play as my favorite character even while I was on the bus to and from work. A portable Uncharted was a wish come true. The game looks gorgeous on the Vita and really showed the system's potential. To this day, I still slide Golden Abyss into my Vita to try and get closer to the platinum trophy whenever I have the time. I really hope Sony can either continue the Uncharted series, or treat me with something else that will really spark my Interest, and so far The Last of Us looks like it will be a great substitute so far.
