I guess nobody read them and therefore didn't do good in sales. By the way, isn't the big deal now-a-days anime or something? Not sure....
I think the main issue is that since Amazon introduced the Kindle, and pretty much single-handedly made the e-book industry one of the fastest growing technologies on the planet, Sony (among a handful of other companies) tried to do the same with comic books.
Long story short, it didn't really work out well. Mainly because, I think, comic book publishers didn't jump on board with it. I think DC Comics was the only company that really embraced it, and they aren't the major player in the comic book industry that they once were.
Anime/Manga is far from new... it's been popular in Japan since the late 1950s, the only thing relatively recent about it is that it has become much more popular outside of Japan in the last 10-15 years. My first GenCon back in 1997, there was basically a small room where the Anime/Manga fans gathered and exchanged thoughts and ideas... when I went back to GenCon a couple years ago, they had one of the major exhibit halls dedicated to the industry.
Other mobie platforms pretty much out performed, and most of the time had more content avaialbe with better promotions. This had a good start but with out the furthur backing needed (which was less emphasised) it had no real progressive leveling.
So, what will happen to the comic icon in Xcrossview. Will it disappear from the XMB in future updates of PSP?
