Hey guys, this is my first visit to the general forum and I wanted to pose a question. Whose first PS3 is the same one that they bought originally. I got my 80 Gig PS3 on launch day way back in 2006 and its still running as good as new. I upgraded the hard drive to 1TB last month (I highly suggest doing this if you plan on keeping you PS3) so I could have everything I bought on my hard drive and I'm fairly certain she'll last until November of this year.
So who else has had this good luck. I'm uncertain to how many launch PS3's have survived to almost see the launch of the PS4 a full 7 years later.
well i didn't buy one of the bc units when they came out but got the fat 80 gig CECHL01 and other than changing the thermal compound a few times the thing still runs like a champ..
oh yea i did remove the rear grill so the air has no restriction on exhaust and dropped the temps considerably by just doing that..
I don't have the original fat PS3, but my Slim from 2009 still works like a charm.
I know I probably broke the rules with the Slim and 2009, but it's my first and only PS3 I've ever had to own. Just like my PS2, my consoles tend to not break or have technical problems.
that seems to be the same way with my equipment but i have many people bring theres to me for repairs and most you can easily tell it wasn't very well taken care of especially when i get inside and see the dirt..
Early 2008 80GB still chugging along. Too bad it will spontaneously combust when I turn on my PS4 for the first time.
