make sure both ps3's have 3.15.

then turn em both off.. plug ethernet cable from one ps3 to the other so they are linked.

then turn em on.. I think i told the old ps3 to xfer first then destination ps3 to get data.

well it was transfering but before it started an error shows up so i restart the ps3 and it says theres bad files so i reformat it the hdd and i look all my profiles are and no game data so i try again i get around to about 70 or 80% it says error again so ill try again if it fails this then sony failed again and deem it a pointless program

You shouldn't be using crossover cables for this (I believe, I haven't tried.  Might be odd for them to make you get a crossover cable).  A standard RJ-45 cable should be all you need.

QFT dont use cross over cables the transfer tool it made for a normal ethernet cable.

Dude, same here. I got 250GB and I have an old 60GB from 2007 and I just bought an Ethernet Cable at Wal-Mart and I tried to transfer data but it just sits there and it says Please Wait, and Then it says Ethernet Cable is not connected, or Other PS3 System is turned off. **bleep** is going on? I don't want to have to start over on Assassin's Creed 2... Or Rock Band 2...
