I downloaded some free PS plus games while my account was still subscribed. I let it expire 15 days ago since I mostly use my PC & tablet anyway. There's no new free stuffs in PS plus as well...
I wanted to start with FFT last night but it said "this application has expired and cannot be started. (NP-9969_3). This thing happens to all the games I downloaded. Am I missing something in here or PS plus is more like rent to play?

When you stop your Netflix subscription, you don't get the movies you previously watched anymore. Same goes for Skype's plans, Cable TV, Internet and so on.

Why would Plus be any different?

That's how it is. It's a subscription based service.

Next time do research on how it works.

Free stuff you can play as long as you're a member.

$50 is practically nothing for all you get with Plus service. The free games are just a bonus, think of them that way.

I used to think free games on ps plus means if you are a member, you can download and play them free even when you are not a member anymore. But really, they are not free. Think of them as, rent. Once you stop being a member, those games become worthless. The only way to play them again is sign up again.

This is actually the thing that broke the deal for Plus for me. I was gonna pay for a 3 month subscription to get the free games until I noticed that the games go away once Plus runs out. With the small selection of games I actually wanted, I'd rather just pay the regular price for them then pay a lump sum to even have access to a discount. It's good for people who are major gamers for all sorts of games, but it's not the best deal for people who only want one or two, like myself.

I concur. Plus is an excellent value. Online backup of PS3 data alone was worth it to me for the first year alone and now Vita support for online backup and the free games sweetens the deal even more.
