Just want to add my voice....1.99 is too much. I actually may have bought an item or two from the new shirts (slightly ashamed to admit that), but after I saw the price at 1.99 I backed right out. the price at .49 to .99 was more reasonable and hopefully they read this thread and realize how much they are missing having the price point too high
This right here is hitting the nail on the head.
I was looking through the shirts and stuff myself the other day and thought about buying a PSN card for them. Once I noticed that all of the new shirts were $1.99, I left the mall. Not just the shirts, not just the store, I left the mall.
From a marketing standpoint, how can you justify pricing items so high that it makes people leave the store? I was going to buy some furniture, maybe a few ornaments, etc., but I left the mall, because if they want $1.99 for a shirt, no way is a table going to be priced any better.
For those saying that it's a "designer price", do you realize that designer stuff isn't all about the look? The material is generally MUCH better. Silk, Leather, Lamb skin and whatnot, makes them worth more money. Are these virtual clothes made out of any better materials? Does the avatar feel better about him/herself while wearing them? Do they feel better on the avatar's skin?
A lot of those questions are obviously rhetorical, but you get the idea, right?
What makes the $1.99 shirt worth more than the $0.49 shirt? Different colors? Seriously, think about it. With the tools they have, one person could program 2-5 shirts per day (very conservatively) and you know the only difference is the colors.
Pricing virtual clothes at $1.99 kept me from buying a PSN card. How many people feel the way I do? Well, this thread didn't get to 31 pages by itself now did it? This is something that SCE really needs to think about... Maybe eve a compromise would lighten the mood behind this whole deal. In any case, something needs to be done, the status quo is unacceptable.
