Guide to the Different LKWD "Skies" Spaces

[ Edited ]
62 replies 2519 views Edited Jul 29, 2013

Hello everyone, Shirobara here! For the past week I've been working on compiling a 'guide' of sorts for the three LKWD "Skies" spaces (Jewel, Haven, and Kingdom). Though I initially started this by myself, I've had a lot of help from some very nice people and am still updating it as I get more information. Though this guide was originally posted in The Kingdom of the Skies (Rewards/Spoilers) thread, it was located at post 50 and apparently not seen by much of the community. It is by request of that post's OP and several others that I am reposting it here. The guide is still under construction, so if you find any errors, feel free to correct me and I'll try to fix things. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but hopefully this collection of information will be useful to those trying to figure everything out:

General Help:

Help! I See Locks Everywhere and I Can't Land!: In order to fly in the sky, you need a flying carpet. You can get one for free by visiting someone's Jewel of the Skies personal space and examining the lamp inside. In order to land on the islands or get wishes from the Genie in the public space, you must own the Jewel of the Skies personal space, and be "acquainted with the genie."

For Those Confused on Where to Find the Genie in Kingdom: The Genie that gives quests is on the center island directly across from your spawn point. Just fly straight and you'll see a small island with a lamp under an open stone structure. Like with the personal space and clubhouse, the public space genie allows you (3) wishes per day. Wishes require specific gems from the public space. Like with other spaces, if you leave or are kicked from the game, you lose all gem collecting progress; however your quest will remain active until you complete it.

For Those Who Can't Locate the Community Chest in Kingdom: It is on the island directly to the left of spawn. To specify, the very first island to the left of the marketplace. If you look from the forward-facing carpet station, you can't see it. You'll only see the second island. You will know you're at the right place because the Community Chest treasury island is the only one with two tigers guarding the front door. This makes it very distinctive from the other islands.

For Those Who Are Unsure How to Reach the Tower in Kingdom: D-Nitrate has created a very helpful guide on how to access the gem tower, where the Cobra Sword can be found, at this link here. That's post 151 of the Kingdom of the Skies Rewards/Spoilers thread for those of you browsing by hand. It has also been cross-posted at post 4 in this thread, below.

Landing the Carpet in Kingdom and Haven: Landing the flying carpet is done by finding 'landing points' around the map. These are usually marked by a 'parked' flying carpet at the end of a small landing. You need to fly at these at least somewhat straight-faced in order to receive the "land" prompt, which can then be achieved by pressing "x" once it appears. If no prompt for you to land appears, circle around on your carpet and try to approach the platform slowly and more directly. Approaching directly from the side, or at an altitude not close enough to that of your destination sometimes fails to bring up the landing trigger.

Unlocking More Carpet Styles: You can get your first carpet free by visiting the Jewel of the Skies personal space as an owner or a guest, and using the magic lamp there to speak to the Genie. Additional carpets can be purchased from the Lockwood Store, or gifted to you and your friends using the Lockwood Gift Machine. All carpets have matching LMOs that can be used anywhere in playstation home; but are also in-game items that you can use while playing the Skies games. There is no known reward for owning all carpet styles.

If The Game Kicks you or Freezes: I've found that sometimes just leaving the space isn't enough to get the game to reset, and that the carpet game will remain broken until you restart home. In some circumstances, using the (select) menu to go to your default personal space helps reset the game so you can use it when you return. This saved me a *lot* of Home restarts. As the space is still buggy, I recommend landing often, either to turn in quests as soon as they're complete, or to add gems to the stash so you don't lose them.

Pheonixgate1 offers this list of helpful hints to keep your game from bugging:
                          - When in Kingdom of the Skies, wait for the video screens and space to load before jumping carpets.
                          - Do not loiter at or stand on carpets either before or after you land.
                          - If someone is already accessing the carpet you are at, wait for them to take off before following.
                          - If you are using a carpet skin other than the default, wait for it to load before taking off.
                          - Do not try to use the carpet directly after you land.
                          - Try not to let your avatar go idle. The more you move, the less of a chance the game will lag out and break.

                          - Accessing another space in the Skies universe (Jewel, Haven) and using the carpet there for a bit sometimes restores

                            access in the public space.

Scrolls in Kingdom: There are scrolls on almost every island of Kingdom of the Skies to find. Most of them offer flavor text, riddles, and rhymes about the nature of the space. I've not noticed any rewards tied to them thus far, but the ones located in the tower do allude to the existence of the Cobra Sword. Most of these notes contain a picture as their header which leads you to the next scroll in the sequence. They're definitely worth a read.

Carpet Trails: Carpet trails change the normally white/blank airflow that follows your magic carpet while flying around the sky. Alternates can be unlocked from the new clubhouse and public space by using wishes to get them. They work just like changing the colors of the Geckos in the Jewel of the Skies personal space; they will come up as wishes more than once, and in some cases you have to accept them to keep your quest rewards rotating.

Carpet trails can be seen by other people in the space around you. Keep in mind they are only available in-game; they do not update your LMO carpet items in any way. The only way to change them is by fulfilling the wish-quest for a new one; you cannot simply collect them and choose between them as there is no sub-option by hence to do this. Note: As of the time of this post, carpet trails cannot be seen in Jewel of the Skies; only in the public space and club house. To return to the blank white trail, accept the "Modest Carpet Trail" option when the Genie presents it to you as a wish. [Thanks to pheonixgate1 for confirming that you can get the original carpet trail back.]

By tapping the R2 button to accelerate, your trail becomes much more noticeable (brighter and longer) to others.  If you hold down the R2 button it will make you go very fast, making it hard for anyone to see your trail. Your current carpet trail will remain in effect even if you leave the space or restart home. The only way to change them again is by using another trail-based wish from the genie. [Thanks to D-Nitrate for this info.]

Specialty Shop: At the top of the highest landing of the public space's tower there is a commerce point containing companions and LMOs not available in the normal stores. This same commerce point can be found with much less hassle by visiting the clubhouse; it is the commerce point on the right. Of note are a monkey companion, a tiger mount, and an LMO that lets you use left-handed items as though wielding a sword. [Thank you Anton-Xul for the correction on left versus right handed.]

Wish Stacking: The genie is a mighty generous fellow, apparently. Wishes made at the public, private, and club spaces are all independent of one another. You can also get an additional 3 wishes a day for bonus rewards at Jewel of the Skies by playing at a friend's apartment [Note: You Must Own Jewel of the Skies yourself, as well].That means you can get up to 12 wishes a day for rewards, depending on your progress in the spaces. Don't think that because you already did your 3 in the public space, that you can't do them for the club on the same day as well!

Gem Locations:

The locations of each jewel is exactly the same for all three spaces.  The only difference is the color of the rarest jewels:

Private/Jewel = Yellow [Green for Guests visiting Jewel]

    Public/Kingdom = White

    Club/Haven = Pink

Once you find a path that works best for you to collect the greatest amount of gems the fastest, you can repeat that path in all three spaces.

Also, the rarest jewels take the longest to regenerate (red ones regenerate the fastest) and unlike the red and blue jewels, the rarest jewels will often not be in all of their designated locations (7 spots), and thus they take the longest to collect. [Thank you to D-Nitrate for the information in this section.]

Gem Point Values:

The point values are:

    1 for each Red

    2 for each Blue

    5 for each Yellow

    8 for each Green

10 for each White or Pink

Note: You can not hold more than 99 of any one type of jewel, so if you reach 99, best to just land and deposit the extra gems and then go back to collecting again.

Also, for those curious.  If you wait for all the gems to appear, in one session you can collect the following:

7 (Yellow, green, white, or pink)

   16 Blue

60+ Red (these regenerate so fast you can never actually clear the skies of red gems at any given time)

So in a little over a minute you can collect ~160 points. [Thank you to D-Nitrate for the information in this section.]

Gem Regeneration Time: Each gem has a certain amount of time before they respawn. The amount of time is as follows:

Red Jewel - 1 minute
Blue Jewel - 2 Minutes
Rare Jewel  - 5 minutes [Thanks to Anton_Xul for this information!]

Individual Gem Count: Gems not used for quests should be deposited into the Community Chest located in each of the 3 spaces. Not only does this add towards the Community Collected Gems Total, which has already earned us a tiger companion, and will earn us a tiger LMO, it also earns the donator individual rewards. These rewards are all rings in different colors (red, green, blue, yellow, light blue, and white) for both genders. Rings are rewarded based on how many gems are donated by you individually, and a meter on the bottom of the community display page shows your individual progress to this end.

Remember: Any gems not deposited into the community chest before leaving the space are lost forever, no credit given to either the individual or the community. The only exception to this is at the Jewel of the Skies personal space; once unlocking the Personal Stash Chest, the space owner can store several gems to use later.

Your Individual Gem Total is consistent throughout all 3 spaces; any gems added to the community chest in any of the 3 spaces is acknowledged in the other spaces. I specify this because Jewel of the Skies' Community Chest isn't yet updated to reflect the new rewards; however, you do still add to your total gem count there, which is helpful in getting the new ring rewards. You may have to visit the newer spaces to get the rewards to pop if you reach the excess totals in the private space, however.

What Time Do Wishes Reset?: As with several other spaces on home, like Lockwood's Dream Yacht, we believe the wishes reset at 5PM PST / 8PM EST. [Thank you JulianMatisse and The_Dukenator for submitting this.]

Help! All I Get Are Carpet Trails!:  Wishes are selected randomly, and each wish has a specific item pool attached to it; if you already have all given rewards from a specific item pool, then you'll only see the reusable ones [i.e., carpet trails]. Sometimes it's just a little bit of luck. There will be days where you get three physical rewards back to back, and days where all you see are carpet trails. If you see you're missing something from the lists below, then just keep trying. It will come to you eventually.

LockwoodLKWD on twitter offers this in addition, for those who would like the numbers: "There's a 30-37% chance to get each reward & the trails are always available, so your chances diminish when you've less to get."

Jewel vs Haven vs Kingdom of the Skies: The Answer: All 3 are, for the most part, *different.*

      - Jewel of the Skies is the private apartment. It is a daytime palace estate with a massive foyer, rewards, and its own carpet game. It grants both owner and visitors a magic carpet LMO. Owners get 3 wishes a day for various rewards and apartment upgrades, however visiting guests are unable to acquire all rewards without being a homeowner.

      - Haven of the Skies is the club house. It is a twilight/night time space that is set up in a very similar way to the public space, Kingdom of the Skies. Haven of the Skies is not a Jewel of the Skies reskin. If anything, I would consider Haven to be more of a Kingdom of the Skies reskin; it shares a lot of the same layout, featuring islands that you can fly to and land on, the same swimmable pool from the public space, and various other re-used areas. However, it is not set up in the same way, and there is not a tower here with gems to run up. The clubhouse functions very similar to the public space; those with a carpet are allowed to collect gems and give them to the genie 3 times a day for wishes that grant them rewards.

       - Kingdom of the Skies is the public space. A magic carpet LMO is required to be able to leave the starting bazzar area. This space contains its own genie with more quests/wishes available to Jewel of the Skies owners. The space features a community chest, several Lockwood Commerce points, a Vid screen showing off Lockwood Content, as well as a swimming area, a cimbable tower, and story scrolls hidden all over the space.

Sub-note: Even though I may not be responding in comments very frequently, you can rest assured that I am still quietly updating, giving kudos, and answering comments where I can. I try not to post unless I have something valuable to say, and if a question's already been answered, then I try not to answer it twice, just integrate it to the guide. I try to update the guide daily, sometimes several times a day, which you can usually note by the 'edit time' stamp at the top of this post.

Thanks:

I just want to take a brief moment to thank everyone who's been helping me with this guide. Even if you aren't someone who provided information or pictures, but asked a question, your input was still very valuable. There are no dumb questions, and if you're asking about something that isn't on this guide already, I've done my best to add a topic about it to this post so that future readers won't be confused about it.

Also, a thank you to @LockwoodLKWD, who featured this thread on their twitter account here!

Jul 15, 2013

Great job compiling all this, and thank you for making a dedicated thread for all the Skies spaces.

I don't know why I didn't notice this before, but the Flaming Brazier is not a reward from the Clubhouse.  It is only available from the public space.

UPDATE:  Adding more specific info about the Tower.

Also, just in case they really do delete that thread, I'll copy over the info on the Tower here:

Hope this clears things up regarding the tower, where it is, how to get there and how to get to the top, and how to get to the chambers that have no apparent access to them:

First off, here is what you can find on the island with the tower:

  • Tower with 5 levels
  • 5 levels of Outer Chambers & Connecting Hallways
  • Roof
  • Landing Location
  • 7 Sets of Stairs
  • 8 Teleporters
  • 2 Scrolls
  • 1 Cobra Sword (hand item reward)
  • Commerce Point
  • Jewel Spawn Locations:
  • 10 Whites
  • 15 Blues
  • 39 Reds

1st Level

  • Landing Location
  • Scroll

  • Teleporter # 5-6 (to the 4th Level of the Tower)

3rd Level of the Tower

  • Stairs leading up to the 4th Level of Outer Chambers
  • Stairs leading down to the 2nd Level of Outer Chambers

4th Level of Outer Chambers

  • Scroll
  • 3 White Jem Locations
  • 2 Blue Jem Locations
  • 10 Red Jem Locations
  • Stairs leading up to the 5th Level of the Tower
  • Stairs leading down to the 3rd Level of the Tower

4th Level of the Tower

  • Stairs leading up to the 5th Level of Outer Chambers
  • Teleporter # 5-6 (to the 3rd Level of Outer Chambers)

5th Level of Outer Chambers

  • 5 White Jem Locations
  • 5 Blue Jem Locations
  • 6 Red Jem Locations
  • Stairs leading down to the 4th Level of the Tower
  • Teleporter # 7-8 (to 1st Level)

5th Level of the Tower

  • Cobra Sword (hand item reward)
  • 1 White Gem Location

Roof

  • Commerce Point
  • Stairs leading down to the 5th Level of the Tower
  • Teleporter # 1-2 (to 1st Level)
  • Teleporter # 3-4 (to 2nd Level of the Tower)

The tower is located on the tallest island as seen here in the distance:

20130714 121619.jpg

20130714 121649.jpg

The top is too high to fly to, but there is an entrance on the back of the island where you can land:

20130714 121755.jpg

20130714 121909.jpg

After you land you can find a scroll off to the right near the enterance:

20130717 101104.jpg

Once inside you'll see the tower of levels surrounded by multiple levels of chambers:

20130714 121929.jpg

There are two ways up to the top where the Cobra Sword is kept (once you get it, there will be a white gem in it's place from then on).

The simplest way to get to the top is to turn left or right from where you enter and follow the hallway until you can enter the bottom of the tower.

Go up the stairs to the 2nd level of Outer Chambers, then turn left, and walk along the hallway until you can turn left again and go up those stairs to enter the 3rd level of the Tower.  Your only choice now is to go up another set of stairs on the left to reach the 4th level of Outer Chambers.

At the top of those stairs, if you turn right it will lead to the 2nd scroll:

Or just turn left again and walk along the hallway until you can turn left and you'll see the final set of stairs leading to the 5th and highest level of the tower - that is where the Cobra Sword is:

You can then proceeded to the roof and top of the Island using the final set of stairs to the right.

However, you will also notice that there is another set of hallways and chambers on the same level as the sword... And you will notice that there are stairs that lead to them from the 4th level of the Tower just below the level with the sword in it.

The problem is you will find that there is no way to get to that level (by foot).

This leads to the alternative way of getting to the top of the island, as well as accessing those extra hallways and chambers with lots of gems in them.

In the shadows on the very bottom of the tower past the first set of stairs (so it's easy to miss) are two hidden teleporters.  Here is a pic of the one on the right when looking out towards the entrance (I used the camera flash to make it easy to spot it on the floor by the wall:

20130717 091403.jpg

That teleporter will transport you to another teleporter on the roof:

20130717 091322.jpg

There is another teleporter on the roof:

20130714 122601.jpg

That one leads to another teleporter on the 2nd level of the Tower:

20130714 122638.jpg

From there you can now have access to the 3rd level of the Outer Chambers, which also leads to yet another teleporter:

20130717 091917.jpg

20130717 091950.jpg

That teleport will take you to another teleporter on the 4th level of the Tower:

20130717 091814.jpg

From there you nwo have access to the 5th level of the Outer Chambers, and yet another teleporter:

20130717 091626.jpg

That one lead to the 2nd teleporter on the first level:

20130714 123032.jpg

So you can also use the teleporters to not only reach the roof, but they also will allow you to reach levels that you can't reach any other way.

I hope this clears up any issues anyone might have regarding the mysterious tower. :smileyhappy:

Re: Guide to the Different LKWD "Skies" Spaces

So now that the Flaming Brazier is off the list of the clubhouse rewards... That brings the total back down to 13 (and supposedly there should be 14).

One thing I noticed though is that there are 6 different Carpet Trail 'rewards' in the public space, and only 5 in the clubhouse... So maybe there is another rare Carpet Trail from the clubhouse Genie's Lamp that no one has spotted yet?

If so then it appears both spaces have the three common carpet trails:

  1. Modest (also the default trail)
  2. Mystic
  3. Rainbow

And then each have exclusive special trails:

Public:

  1. Insignia
  2. Lozenges
  3. Deadly

Clubhouse:

  1. Ameerah
  2. Zodiac (still my favorite of the bunch)
  3. ?

If so, the questions remains... What is the missing trail?

Is one of those carpet trails the skull pattern? I got that last night. And then lost it to another one promptly after. 😢
Oh, and "paw of the monkey", a monkey companion. 😉

Here is an updated pic of all the item rewards from Haven of the Skies (except the two lamps on the table which are from Palace of 7 Winds):

I just got an email response from Tim, Social Media Coordinator for LKWD with the following info:

Tim wrote:

It looks like there are only 13 rewards actually, I got confused by the SCEJ only "Golden Scarab Sword with Stand" reward – sorry about that. This reward is SCEJ’s version of the “Golden Scarab Sword” hand component , which isn’t available in there.

So looks like all the rewards have been identified, but that in JP there is a bonus reward:

"Golden Scarab Sword with Stand" (likely an Ornament item)

What surprises me the most though is that I didn't think LKWD was selling any of their items in JP, including their spaces.

It's also not clear if any JP account can get it from any Haven of the Skies, or if it is exclusive to the Haven of the Skies clubhouse for sale in JP, and if that is the case, can accounts from other regions visiting the JP version of the Haven of the Skies be able to get that reward?

I'll see if my JP account can get this reward from my friend's clubhouse in NA, but it might be even more helpful if someone from JP who has access to the JP version of this clubhouse can see if they can get this 14th reward item.

It's not a bonus reward, but a replacement reward. From reading what Tim said, it sounds like Japan is replacing the Hand Item Sword with an Ornament Sword. From what I heard recently about Japan, they don't allow hand held weapons in that region.
