Would you give up more HDD space to have faster load times in HOME?

37 replies 7 views Edited Aug 5, 2009

Lets face it home is a big waiting game most if not all the time. This never bothered me before because my friends and I never used home that much because it was boring (until recently that is). Home is starting to get bigger and bigger with spaces that are actually fun (buzz, siren, ea sports complex, etc). Im actually starting to spend money in home now (which i thought would never happen). I actually like going on home now, but I hate waiting for a bar to load before I can go anywhere. So I was wondering if anyone here would glady give up more hard drive space to have things pre-loaded already before you go on home. The only time you would have to download something is if a space has been recently updated. You would be able to zip right to spaces with little to no waiting. This would also make loading clothing, items, photos, etc. much faster. I understand that it's not possible to make things load instantly, but anything is faster than what we have now. Most of my friends including me have upgraded our hard drives, so space is not a problem.

So my question is: Would you give up more space on your hard drive to have things load faster? If so how much?

I have a 320GB in mine so I'm a little biased I guess.  I want faster loading for sure.  Those thumbnails probably take up like 10K a piece anyway.  As for objects though, much more than that.  I'd like to have it all precached from the HDD though.

it doesnt really matter to me because there are only about 3 spaces i use alot

the central plaza, my apartment, and sometimes the mall if i feel like meeting funny people

so i wouldnt, 3 gbs is enough, and im a very patient person, i dont mind waiting 10-15 seconds for a space to load, but i can see that someone isnt as patient as i am lol

The HDD space has nothing to do with load time.  From what I understand it don't.  Maybe you have holes in your HDD from downloading and deleting demo's.  You will need to Defrag your HDD sometime and that will help I'm sure.  Here is a link to find your ps3's secret.... (But know what your doing.)  Hope this helps your loading time.  ;-)  I found this on youtube one day and tried it and it works good.  Or maybe get a 7400 rpm or something.

No I will just be patient, and either way it's nt more space you need. What your PS3 need is a faster procceser and/or more RAM

I have a 40GB(should've bought the 80GB) and I say yes. Home's loading times are geting worse with every week. I froze two times yesterday because of so much lag.

This^

And a combo of other things:

1.) If you have a crappy connection, might not want to be downloading things or really just generally having another connection on another device going.

2.) Sony probably should beef up their servers a bit to handle high influxes better.
