A TROPHY?!...WELLLLL.......I HATE IT hate IT hate IT : for the same stupid annoying reason

Overall I like them. They are a nice record of the games I have played and the acomplisments that I had with those games. I do think it is really sad when people play games just to boost their "score." I also hated seeing people refuse to play good games like Valkyria Chronicles because it doesn't have trophies.

Some individuals would say that I despise trophies. I do not think that is entirely true but I cannot deny the fact that I do not see trophies in a positive light. For the most part I look at trophies and ask myself, “What’s the point?” I suppose trophies are a nice way of telling your friends which video games you play without them having to ask you. I attach the fond memories that I have with video games to the actual video games themselves rather than to their trophies (if that makes any sense). Trophies are simply not one of the many reasons why I play video games and they certainly do not add replay value to video games for me. I will replay video games if I like them (nothing more, nothing less). With that being said, I belong in the “Don’t Like” category...

I have never cared for them. Even with the huge online community I know, no one ever asks, or cares....

I LOVE trophies. I was never a big achievement fan but once PS3 got trophies, I saw the light lol. Once I got my first one in Super Stardust HD, I wanted more. Then once I got my first Platinum in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, I wanted even more. They give me a great reason to keep playing a game and step outside my normal boundaries in gaming. I NEVER played a game on any other mode than Easy before trophies but I gladly put myself through hell to beat Titan Mode on God Of War 3 and I gladly stayed up until 3 in the morning earn a trophy that isn't real.... but is... The GOW3 platinum.
The one thing I don't like is the online trophies. They can kill an experience, especially if the community is dead (I.E. Guitar Hero). I will only boost for a trophy if it will add to the experience and isn't just some long grind with a person I don't know.
Call me a Trophy Whore, Trophy Hunter or whatever, but Trophies to me are the best thing about this Generation.

I like trophies, they are cool. They seem to make certain games more fun and I like tracking my progress in the game.

Late to the thread, but put me in the like category. At times I can be indifferent to trophies. For example Madden 10 - I think I could have easily picked up some trophies if I followed one of the trophy guides, however I didn't bother to try. At times I can really get into trophies. For example, if I really like a game, I will probably look at a trophy guide at some point to see if I can pick up anything that I missed. I also usually pass on online trophies. Just not a huge fan of random online matches, trophy boosting matches, etc.
In closing, while I enjoy trophies, I doubt I would notice much if they were no longer around. I play what I enjoy, however trophy hunting in games I really enjoy probably gives some of my games added value. In the past, before trophies, once I "finished" a game, I would flip it on eBay, however with the advent of trophies, I may be inclined to go back and see if I can get some trophies I missed. I guess this makes me a minor trophy whore ...

I suppose I fall into the "Like" category.
I do enjoy seeing a trophy pop up during a game, and I've occasionally gotten the itch to hunt some down. But in general I don't spend my gaming time seeking these out. In general, I feel like trophies only add to gaming, as a means of both sharing and preserving gaming accomplishments in a somewhat formal record, and I think that trophy/achievement systems still have a lot of untapped potential.
Overall, I can't really see myself investing a lot in these at the moment. I still play plenty of games that don't feature trophies (the PSP, for example, is still my most used gaming system). And there is no universal system across all platforms (or accounts -- I have a couple that I use on my PS3). Additionally, it remains to be seen how trophies/achievements might carry over into the next generation of consoles, if at all.

I like trophies, but not to the point I will play a game just because of them. I do however wish some developers (SEGA) would patch trophies in for past games. I can't see how it is asking too much for a game like Valkyrie Chronicles to get some trophies.

I have a like/hate opinion on trophies.
I like trophies because they do add replay value at times. If its a game I really enjoy, I'll take the time to try to collect as many trophies in the game as possible.
I hate them because, sometimes other gamers will use it as a measurement of "skill". I've seen it happen plenty of times when using PS Home lol. I was told that Demon's Souls was a hard game to platinum. I then played the game literally for the trophies and found myself replaying the game 3 times doing the same thing over and over for over 100 hours just for the platinum trophie. So to me, trophies don't measure skill. It just shows other people how much free time you have. I stopped my trophy hunting in Final Fantasy 13 because again I realized I'm just grinding for another 100 hours after the main story mode and not even having fun with the game anymore.
You'll never catch me playing a bad game like Terminator or Hannah Montanna for easy plats. I wish there was an option to turn off trophys. I had just as much fun playing games before the trophy add on. I really enjoyed Ratchet & Clank Future, Resistance 1, and MGS4. Games w/o trophies.
Sounds like you don't like trophies at all, which I can get behind.
