Error 80010514 (Cannot read disk) !?

3 replies 301 views Edited May 31, 2013

Hi, I have recently bought a preowned ps3 slim and a brand new Black Ops 2 disk. I put in my disk and suddenly error  80010514 come up saying the ps3 couldn't read the disk. Now about 1/10 times I try to start it the game comes on, why? I'm not sure whether this is a corrupt file but I have already tried to Restore File System and the game still didn't work! This never happened to me on my old ps3 and now it's really getting annoying seeing how much money it all cost. If somebody could give me a solution to this error/problem then please reply and help!

Does your disc have a crack in it near the center?

80010514 happens when your ps3 cannot read the disc, and thats caused by dirt on your bly-ray lens. You can either send your console in for servicing or you can try to clean the lens yourself. Cleaning the lens is easy, you just need a q-tip and rubbing alcohol, and a special screwdriver; there are videos on youtube about it : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXrEyE3OwbQ

Good luck!
