I was getting this code when trying to update to PS store 1.02. I just deleted the app (use green up arrow for options, then choose delete). Then I tryed opening the store, and the download worked perfect.

I am having the same problem with this error code(80710723). It only appears when I try downloading this new purchase I just bought. I just spent 59,99 and now this game MLB The Show Wont download. alot of my disc doesnt read neither do now I have to download the games. but now that dont work neither. this disabling UPnP thing doesnt really apply to me cause I am not even on a router and my ps3 is connected directly to the modem through a ethernet cord to try to get a faster download. Someone please help if you can.

I just called sony about this same error, when trying to update fallout:new vegas, the lady told me they have be experiencing psn issues which could cause your server to drop during updates and downloads because their system is under maintanence. sorry for bad spelling. She emailed me port lists to call my internet service provider to give them so they open those ports to try again, she said if it still does that error code it is due to them doing maintanence

This thread seems endless, but... Here is the ONLY thing that worked for me ---
PS3 kept dumping out of the update with the 80710723 error code. This house has 3 laptops, and an XBox all drawing on our modem, so I thought maybe I can download the update (thereby not having to worry about getting the update - as opposed to getting and then - getting it on my system), and then get it on PS3 somehow... Yahtzee...!!!
From now on - if it wont auto-update (with no problems), I will do THIS from now on...
Simply download the update to your PC, transfer it to a folder call PS3 / UPDATE (create these two folders on a memory stick - and yes --- all CAPS), and go to System Update, and then instead of selecting the default (from Internet), choose Manual, and your PS3 will scan the system (including any memory stick currently in the slot) for any applicable updates, and Viola! Updated in just 5-10 minutes...!!!
Remember... I broke this down into the two main components... Getting the update, and then installing the update. I Marshall Faulked around with mine for a couple of hours before I found the optimal means by which to get around any update from here on out...
Download it to your PC... copy it to your memory stick (folder naming counts here boys)... Update and then play... Enjoy!
