Wait a second....If there is nothing wrong with the 4.25 update, why come out with 4.3 so quickly?
What's that? The sound of silence.
My friend said he would like to drag the head of sony out of his house and kick his **bleep** in front of his wife.

<start sarcasm>What? Sony just realizes that we all have been yelling for Vita Trophies....
A mandatory update for vita trophies....yeah. Ok. <cough>
Hope the update fixes my brick. Having a technician tell me that it was impossible for firmware to stop an optical drive from reading to the board is just too funny.

With having just installed 4.30, I'm possibly too late for my details to be of use, but you never know.I have an 80GB model, purchased in April '08. One of the first which removed backwards compatibility to PS2 and 2 of the 4 original USB ports, and so obviously a fat model. I updated from the voluntary update (I always update immediately if I notice there is one available) 4.21 to 4.25 to 4.30.
I have experienced nothing out of the ordinary and this is the first I've heard of this problem(s). I wouldn't have even found out about them were it not for the lack of details on update 4.30 which prompted a search for information.

I have the phat 60gb backwards compatible one, but with a 250gb HDD that I installed six months ago.
Laser lens was replaced about 3 months ago
Wired to cable internet
Probably updated from 4.20, since I only do it when it tells me I must.
XMB froze for a minute, then started working, then it said I'd been signed out of the Playstation Network.
Went to Netflix, did the "auto sign-in", then was told I needed to upgrade.
PS'd out, XMB froze and before I could get to the System Update icon, unit turned off with blinking red light.
Red light stayed blinking, power button wouldn't turn unit on or stop the blinking.
Turned off power switch in back, unplugged cord to make sure, plugged in, turned on switch, hit power button
Green light for about half a second, quick yellow, then blinking red and no video
Even though version 4.30 seems to have come out now, I don't see how I can install it since I can't turn on the machine.
Ver 4.30 is the fix for 4.25, right? Or is it just some new Vita features or something like that that doesn't matter?
I'll have to look around to see if the PS3 can boot from a USB memory stick that has 4.30 and some boot code on it?
Or can Sony just send someone to my house to fix it?
That would be so awesome I'd buy a PS4 the day it comes out.
Unless it comes out before the holidays, in which case I'd be mad that they'd brick my PS3 just in time to buy a PS4.

80Gb (upped to 500Gb) PS3 Phat will not install this update (broadband). It runs to 99% then tells me to power off and unplug and try again. I get Error Code 8002F310. It downloaded fine and I'm all up to date otherwise so what gives? I'm getting nervous.
***UPDATE***: Contacted customer servive. Went through the steps. It's fully bricked (won't start in safe mode). OPTIONS: send for service for $129 OR send back and for $129 receive a new 160Gb version. Both options suck as they cost me money. F*CK YOU VERY MUCH SONY. **bleep**HOLES. I'm gonna go buy a WD TV LIve for my streaming needs today and wait for the '720 to hit shelves. SONY, it's kust too much problems with you nowadays. Later.
