I have the phat 60gb backwards compatible one, but with a 250gb HDD that I installed six months ago.
Laser lens was replaced about 3 months ago

Probably updated from 4.20, since I only do it when it tells me I must.
XMB froze for a minute, then started working, then it said I'd been signed out of the Playstation Network.
Went to Netflix, did the "auto sign-in", then was told I needed to upgrade.
PS'd out, XMB froze and before I could get to the System Update icon, unit turned off with blinking red light.
Red light stayed blinking, power button wouldn't turn unit on or stop the blinking.
Turned off power switch in back, unplugged cord to make sure, plugged in, turned on switch, hit power button
Green light for about half a second, quick yellow, then blinking red and no video
Even though version 4.30 seems to have come out now, I don't see how I can install it since I can't turn on the machine.
Ver 4.30 is the fix for 4.25, right? Or is it just some new Vita features or something like that that doesn't matter?
I'll have to look around to see if the PS3 can boot from a USB memory stick that has 4.30 and some boot code on it?
Or can Sony just send someone to my house to fix it?
That would be so awesome I'd buy a PS4 the day it comes out.
Unless it comes out before the holidays, in which case I'd be mad that they'd brick my PS3 just in time to buy a PS4.
