PS3 Model: 40 GB hard drive, phat (SpiderMan bundle), default HDD
Internet connection: Wireless
Updated from: 4.20
After downloading the 4.25 update, my PS3 freezes when trying to download any game updates, whether a disc-based copy of Madden NFL 13 or a game downloaded from the PSN (in my case, Pinball Arcade). Games which I have downloaded from the PSN which do not require any updates seem to be working properly (no slowdown, difficulty loading, etc.).

I have a 40gig phat PS3, funny story, just bought this ps3 from a friend, it was sitting on version 4.1, so I update it to 4.2 (this is only a week and a half ago mind you) everything went fine. yesterday morning I wake up and update my ps3 to 4.25, IT FAILS AT 97% EVERYTIME giving me some BS error. which should really just say, oh, sony F'ed up this time and gues who's **bleep** are taking it? the consumers.

I had the exact same problem with the exact same system. I talked to the support staff and they would not take responsibility for the problem. They wanted me to send it in and pay $99 plus tax. I have never had any issues with the system until now and when I see the load of problems people are having I feel like it is a problem that originates with the update. Sony should be fixing the problems on their own dime. I believe contacting FCC and any other governmental agency is a good place to start, but a class action suit might actually force them to take finanacial responsibility.
