Hi PlayStation Community,

 

This is the FAQ for the PSN section of the Support forums. This post is meant to answer and give links to basic and commonly asked questions about the PlayStation Network and its features. For convenience, we've created a table of contents that will take you directly to specific sections to help make finding answers easier. I am from region X, can I play a game from region Y? Can I download DLC from region Y to play with region X?

The answer for this is yes and no. Disc based games are region free meaning you can be from the US and play a Japanese disc. Downloadable Content (DLC) is not region free however.  So if you buy the Japanese version of Call of Duty on disc, you must buy DLC of the same region. We recommend you purchase games from your region in order to avoid mishaps and accidental purchases.

 

I am from region X but I’m moving to region Y, will my PSN account carry over?

You can definitely bring your PS3 to wherever you move to and can still play on PSN through your old region. Keep in mind however that your PSN account will only accept credit cards and payments using its original region’s currency.  Please be aware that each region has its own store and payment options.

I am receiving error code XXXXXXXX! What does it mean?

 

We have an extensive database of error codes when attempting to accessing features on PSN. Error codes are often 8 digit codes of numbers and letters. Some examples:

  • 80710534
  • 80710223

Enter your error code and you should have your answer as to what the error code means as well as possible solutions to fixing it
