We shouldn't have to "check" anything, the network should not be down. They had a month of downtime to alleviate any problems with their network and this just shows their incompetence. If the issue was caused by the update someone should be fired over it, this is just unacceptable no matter how you look at it.

Socom 4 is the worst game i've ever played...that franchise went to junk after ps2. As far as this goes, this is insane. honestly that crap they offered the last time (aside from infamous) with the "welcome back" package was chicken feed. Disappointment after disappointment this past year with sony, i'm really about to sell my ps3 for 200 to get an xbox. This other crap about sony having a "a bad year" is inexcusable as well, you're a multi BILLION dollar a year company and you can't keep your network up? Who the **** are you paying for this cause I'd love to have the paycheck they're making. Also the new user agreement was made so they don't have to give you another welcome back package due to the fact you can't sue them. Why? cause it costs less to pay someone to write up a new user agreement than it does to hand out a credible return package to loyal customers.
