When io try to log into my PSN on my ps3 it says attempt to connect to playstation network has timed out so i treid on a different account on a different ps3 and it says the same thing can someone tell me why?

If thats the case its been down for at least a week. How do you know for sure?

I was able to log in all day yesterday and even visit the store. I just couldn't buy anything because there was always an error when trying to add funds to my wallet.

This morning I couldn't even log in. So either they took the network down for maintenance or this is a new problem?

I had no problem with PSN until about an hour ago.  I went and Bought BF3, but when I logged in to download premium content it hung.  I can't even get to the store now.
