I attempted to add funds to my account and it worked the first time without a problem but the second time i tried a few mins after it said the info was incorrect and i tried both through the site normally and on my ps3 .
is this just a temporary problem and is there anything i can do or am i just stuck?

Seems SONY has an ongoing and long-standing problem with its credit card verification system. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Must be based on weather it's raining centipedes in the Mojave Desert, on Tuesday, at night, while windy.
An almost sure-fire way to add funds is to buy a PSN card. Not as convenient, but far higher success rate.
