Re: Solution for your DNS error (80710102) problems! (Works for all ISP's)

Mar 24, 2013

When I first encoutered this problem, changing to OpenDNS solved it for couple of months. Then it all started again, so i changed to Google DNS. After couple of months that stopped working too. So i was swapping between OpenDNS, Google and Comodo. Few days ago all cease to work on PS3 (PC's are working fine). I tried WiFi connection, cable connection, automatic settings, manual settings. Nothing. Can't connect no matter what i do. I think my ISP is forcing his lame DNS, because I keep seeing them (i'm using router and setting DNS there as well). This is driving me nuts, I was planning to buy PS+ now, but it seems I won't be doing this for some time :smileysad:

Thank you so much! I was having trouble getting Netflix to work on my PS3. It kept giving me an error message every time I tried to open the Netflix application. I tried many other troubleshoots, but this was the only solution that actually worked. Now I'm back to watching my shows on Netflix. Thanks again!

Re: Solution for your DNS error (80710102) problems! (Works for all ISP's)

I've dealt with this PS3 wireless error quite a bit and I just figured out a resolution.  Go into your wi-fi router's settings, go to the DHCP/wi-fi settings, look for your primary and secondary DNS servers, enter the same IP address as your gateway IP.  For example (this differs from different wi-fi router brands), if your gateway IP address is 192.1.1.0, then make your primary and secondary DNS servers 192.1.1.0.

Also, I changed the channel on my 2.4 GHz frequency from auto to 5, auto is the default.

You can assign an IP address to your PS3 but make sure it's within the range of your DHCP pool, for example if the range is 192.1.1.1 -192.1.1.199, then choose 192.1.1.10, or whatever other number you want as long as it's within this range.

On your PS3 this has to be all done manually on wireless.

On a side note, I hope Sony makes it easier for people to connect their wireless since I never have this problem on my iPhone, TV, DirecTV wi-fi AP, laptop or tablet, and they're all connected on the same wi-fi router.

Also, why Sony doesn't include WPS in addition to the AOSS standard for connecting wireless devices?  WPS is far more prevelant than AOSS, which is usually only used by Buffao wi-fi routers.  WPS is more univerals while AOSS is not.  Enabling WPS would bypass all of these problems.

I can sign onto psn but I keep getting booted off. I tried everything mentioned in this thread with no luck =(

Whenever my ps3 loses connection everything else that is connected to my router loses it too shortly after. It is not my router because this only happens when my ps3 is online.

OpenDNS has a third and fourth DNS for routers like mine that support it so use it or it will fall back to your ISP's crappy DNS. BTW GoogleDNS does not have a third and forth DNS after pulling my hair out searching it does not exist so that is why I use OpenDNS.

OpenDNS third and forth addresses.

what does roadrunner mean?

i get the DNS error message when i try to test my connection after i have entered all the numbers

ip address

subnet mask

default router

primary DNS

Secondary DNS

the reason i try to change to a static ip address is because my black ops 2 keep freeze the entire ps3 after a short time playing.

but the strange thing is, that its the only game that crash.

I get siginiciant decreases in my internet speeds running through those DNS servers.... I run a speed test using them and I get about 7 Mbps down and 1.5 up, but running through my automatic DNS I get 20 Mbps down and 2 up...
