Im planning on getting gta v, but I don't want to buy an expensive game(s), play it for a month then have to buy the ps4 and not be able to play it.

Will the dualshock 3 controller work for the ps3?

The PS4 is going to have an x86-64 architecture processor, just like Windows and Linux PCs; instead of the Cell processor used in the PS3.  It therefore will not be able to play any PS3 games natively.  It won't play any PS1, PSN. or PS2 games either.  Sony is planning to use the streaming technology that it acquired with Gakkai to stream some PS3 games (and possible older titles) to the PS4, but there is no date for when that will be available; so please do not buy a PS4 in November and then post that you were "ripped off" by "false advertising" because every PS3 game ever published is not available for streaming to your PS4 on launch day; because I know somebody is going to do that. It's a plan, to do something sometime in the indefinite future.  That is all.  On launch day the PS4 won't run anything except PS4 games. The PS3 will still be manufactured and sold for at least three more years.  If you want to play PS3 games, then just keep your PS3.

DualShock 3 conrtrollers will not work with the PS4.
